We Know You Don't Like Bush.

Alright, this is a question to everyone on this site who's been non stop bashing Bush. I'm not attacking you or anything, I'm just wondering...what do you believe in? I mean you all have made it very apparent that you're fighting against Bush, and that there are problems with this country, etc. But what are you fighting for? What is it that you actually propose to do instead of what Bush is doing? Most of you support Kerry. But he voted for the war, and his plans for Iraq don't involve pulling out troops any sooner than our current president Bush does.

I mean its great that you guys have your criticsms, like F911, and all of that. I've yet to see someone on this site actually give what they would do! Kerry's not really even running on anything aside from being against Bush. I mean thats fantastic and all...but what does he do once he's in office? Nobody has any idea because he doesn't have a solid platform. He's voted both ways on basically every issue.

So what would you do diferently? You all know you want to change something, but do you actually know what you would even change? I know some of you do, and I respect that, but I think a lot of you are just going with the flow.

^Nah, that was just what we were all hoping for. He never had any intention of running with Kerry. Atlantaski wants him because he's a republican, which is apparently a requirement for being a good president (WHAT?)

Well run him, Reps. Redeem yourselves for this mess you've put in the white house. From what I've seen, I would support J Mccain.

it would have had the election on lockdown for Kerry in theory, but in reality America would not let it fly, we are all to partisan, also McCain wouldn't run against Bush on the Dem ticket

Hell, it would've been a mortal lock for the Republicans if he'd run on their ticket instead of Bush. Think about it, all the republicans voting for Bush would probably vote for him, and half the democrats, I'm sure. Landslidesville. I really wish that could've happened.

BigJ, It is rather pathetic. It's a means to a good end, hopefully, but one would hope these people would educate themselves. However, I find it equally sad that there are people still supporting Bush and this war for no better reason than stubborn pride (unwillingness to admit they were wrong) or party loyalties. It's just as arbitrary as making political decisions based on 'what's cool'.

If you trace our political history back, there is one key component that the Founding Fathers left out of the constitution, something so key to the success of our government. The two party system. Over the years around a hundred different third parties have grown and died, but the Republicans and Democrats have survived and grown to be so dominant that they practically cancel out the existence of other parties. The point of the two party competing system is competition. One party remains in power while the other criticizes it, post revisionist sure, but necessary to analyze and investigate issues. Competition breeds progression. Hell just look at skiing for proof.

Every Republican keeps citing - 'oh but Kerry voted for the war!' Of course did, nearly every senator did. Why? Because of the evidence presented to them. At the time, there SEEMED to be no reason why we shouldn't go to war. However, as time went on, Bush's war doctrine has gotten holes shot all over it. Thus, the change in heart.

Then why vote for Kerry? Because in my opinion Bush has done a foolhardy job of navigating this country through one of the most treacherous wars in recent history. We need fresh faces. Bush's entire cabinet is narrow minded in general, and if you look at people like Oneil, different opinions are hardly tolerated.

Of course Kerry doesn't have a solid platform, no candidate walks into a race shouting out his values and plans and strategies for the future. Those things take time to develop into a platform. As we move closer to the election we will see Kerry solidify his platform.

There's alot more to say, but I've got to get to work.

Long term though, Saddam is gone, we did break the despotism in the nation and are setting it on the right track. You can expect a nation to just be fine after a year, it will take many more until the nation is out of its hole. But, in long term it will have been a good idea and should have a good outcome for the people of Iraq and for the middle east.

It might be a cliche, but it is ethically sound: the ends do not justify the means. Time will tell as to whether Iraq ends up with a better system of government or just restores dictatorship, but that's an entirely different discussion, so no more of that.

^Not necessarily true. While I'm not aware of any sightings in the Indian Ocean, there would be nothing preventing them from going there, as sperm whale migratory patterns are quite diverse (from 60something degrees north to 70 or so south, I think). I know they're spotted in New Zealand all the time, and in South America on the Pacific side. Supposedly they just like deep water areas.
