Companies would surely be able to get away by throwing bullshit food on the shelves that's packed with tasteless preservatives and such unhealthy shit, if there were no 3rd party quality controls... They already get away with that kinda stuff sometimes as it is - imagine if there was nothing to stop them?
And at that rate, whats a food consumer supposed to do? not eat? I guess they could grow their food, but what if they live in Phoenix where you cant grow shit to begin with?
And what do you mean by inferior? Because inferior food to me sounds like food that's loaded with too much of something that could make you sick or lead to you getting sick.
I dont mean that they should have fucking fillet mignon every night, or any fancy shit like that, I just feel that they should be able to eat food that's healthy and not be stuck eating garbage that will make them sick just because theyre in a lower wealth class. For example... Chicken - the most basic fucking meat, should not go unchecked for potential health harming microbes or other things that could taint the meat on the shelf, and make someone sick if they were to buy it (or waste their money when they realize its rotting when they get back home)
Personally, I feel our current food situation is fine, but there are some things i've seen that are pretty fucking gnar if they were eaten on even a semi-regular basis.
