GL2 problem. help!

hey ns, i just picked up a used Canon GL2. Every time i put a tape in, its says "EJECT TAPE" and recently thought it could be a bad tape, so i tried the other 2 i had and it ripped both apart. does anyone know whats wrong, or what i should do to fix it? thanks

its a pretty common problem with gl2, and theres no specific solutions to this. You will most likely need to send it to canon.

try putting a tape cleaner in there. If that doesn't work, you got a messed up tape deck.  Probably would cost more to fix it then it would be to buy a new camera.

Will canon fix 10 year old products? they'd prob charge you 800 bucks for the repair then send you at t2i.

uhh.. they still sell the gl2 brand new, so yes. (retail is 2799 which is kinda ridiculous considering i got one 5 years ago for 2000)

Normally when your tape heads are dirty it will say an error message along the lines of 'clean tape heads'. I would still try a cleaning tape first tho.

I know alot of people had problems with the tape eject drive messing up. Does it seem to function smoothly when you eject a tape?

clean the heads, thats all i can think of, if you have to send it to canon and it is going to cost anywhere near 600$ just get 200$ more and buy a t2i, worth the money

yeah it does. so i should try a head cleaner, then if that doesnt work, try to get a refund from paypal? i bought it from a kid on ns..
