Gluing polycarbonate onto wood? +k

I've realized a) I know little about countersinking and b) I'm bad at keeping screws straight. Also my plastic is only around less than 1/8" thick so I don't think countersinking would work too well. Can I just buy a strong adhesive and glue it ontop of my box or are there any problems with this method?

Countersinking is not hard. You just attach a countersink drill bit, and it creates the countersink in the plastic. Once you've done this, you then put the screws through. Glue is a good idea for your problem, but I think that the expansion/contraction of the materials when it gets cold outside might ruin the adhesion of the glue? I have no experience in the matter, but I'm just suggesting that it might be an issue.

Yeah I see what you're saying and I could always re-glue it. Also, do you know if polycarbonate is known to expand in width overtime at all, because it doesn't quite cover about 1/8" all the way down

i heard about velcroing the plastic to the box, but i havent tried it so i cant garauntee it will work. If it doesnt work though, you arent really losing anything, so it might be worth a try

If I hadn't already glued it and had some velcro laying around I'd try this to see how it worked, but it I don't think the bond would be too strong.

i could imagine if you ruffed up (sand with heavy grit) the gluing surface of the poly and use some industrial construction adhesive (the kind sold in caulking tubes) it should work out fine.
i even saw a couple pics of some boxes in the "post a pic of ur rail" thread people made that had the poly glued on!

The best way would to be countersink it, but the glue seems to work pretty good for me so far(haven't officially used it, only jumped on). I tried forcing the plastic off and it wouldn't budge so that's a good sign. Make sure you buy a heavy duty glue that works for plastic and wood, and make sure you sand, and take off any dirt before you glue it all together.
