Red Bull 1976 Oldschool Event invades Tremblant this weekend!!

To celebrate the last weekend of the 2011 ski season, teams of outrageous skiers are invited to register for Red Bull 1976, a retro, multi-disciplinary ski competition that embraces one-piece suits, wigs, moustaches, outdated tricks, and questionable racing methods. Taking place on Saturday, April 9 at Station Mont-Tremblant, up to twentyfive teams of four participants will channel their inner 70’s groove and retro ski skills.

The high-voltage competitions include Snowblade Cross and Old School Air, plus an award for Racing with Style, which will be awarded to the best trick on an Oakley feature at the bottom of the Snowblade Cross track! So grow (or stick on) those mustaches, squeeze into your one-piece, and get ready to party like it’s 1976. The team finishing in first place will not only walk away with bragging rights, but will also share a cash purse of $1,000. The team in second place will get $750 and the third-place team will receive $500, plus additional prizing from event sponsor Oakley.

We want to see at least one team of Newschoolers members in on this!! If you have already entered a team or plan on it, PM me and we'll make sure you guys get a little extra coverage on here. Theres no better way to spend a spring day in Tremblant than rocking out oldschool in the sun and drinking Red Bulls.

hmmmmmm my friends are renting a cottage this weekend at tremblant. I might get there on saturday, but 75 bucks to ski is lol . I'll ask them but the answer will prolly be a good '' no ''

team is $100 and then you get $27 lift tickets. Its actually cheaper to do the comp than it is to ski with a day pass. go for it!!

This is an awesome chance to use the powers of NS to make an all random team. I would LOVE to see 4 random people on a single team competing. I'll be there to cheer you guys on and will provide a ton of stickers to cover your gear if you make it happen!

Few details from Red Bull:

We will supply you with the snowblades, you just need modern ski boots to click in. Bring your old and own equipment for the Old School Air!

The registration cost is $100 per team of 4. At the same time, any team members that need lift tickets can buy them at the same place for $26.75.

Helmets are mandatory during the competition.

We really hope to see you dressed as ridiculous as possible!

For you fan club, lift tickets will be 30% off regular price for everyone dressed up retro! Yeah! There will be a Nightlife magazine "best dressed" contest as well.

They'll likely tailor the existing course to be snowblade friendly, since this is the last event of the season to be using it

I was there today, and that competition was looking really sick. With snowblades in the park all day long, that race and the jump was really funny to watch !

I think I saw félix rioux out there. And yes, cant wait to see footage. They were throwing the most stupid things I've never seen on a small jump. 2 guys on 1 pair of skis was epic and leads to a quadruple eject.

Awesome event! Everyone was having a blast rocking out in old suits, sketchy skis and snowblades. Pics and video coming soon.

Congrats to the last minute Team Newschoolers who finished in the top 5 for the Oldschool Air competition, and at one point were actually tied for first ahead of the Allstar Team of JP , Philou and Vinny
