COMPUTER NERDS HELP ME!

Alright.So im trying to transfer all of my music which is on itunes from our old desktop that is about to crash to my laptop. Both windows systems. The thing is, i dont know shit about computers. I called Itunes and we set up my ipod as a flash drive thing but it only transfered 99 songs of the 2700+ songs. Over a thousand of the songs have been bought from itunes over the years and the rest are from cd's and other sources ,cough cough. We do have an external hard drive and a flash drive.

I haven't bought songs from itunes so i'm not too familiar with its backup system but check your "My Music" folder and then click iTunes and see if your songs went to there. If they did just use an external hardrive from there. Plug in your external. Copy your whole "My Music" folder onto it, that's where iTunes stores your songs. Blamo, done no big deal. Plug it into your new computer, transfer the music folder. Open itunes, click "add to library" and select your whole music folder.

Yeah, i tried this before. When hooked up to my old computer it said the files were there and full. When i hooked it up to my new computer the files were there but there was nothing on them.

Have you authorized your iTunes account on the new computer? If you don't then you'll never be able to play any of the songs you purchased

I have. I have even set up the home sharing thing but i still want all my music on laptop because the desktop is gonna crash
