Geometry Help

first of all, this isn't for class, just for fun.

you have a 1x1 square, and you remove an rxr square from a corner. if 0<r<1, what is the largest square that can fit in the 1x1 square, in terms of r?

i've been trying to get this for like 3 hours, but to no avail. if anyone can help, i'd greatly appreciate it.

eh nevermind i hate math i dont do it anymore. intuitively the biggest chunk you can take out of something is a chunk that is the smallest unit smaller than that original piece. fuck if i know how to express that
