Help with certain transition (slide effect?)

I'm going to describe this best I can, because I can't find any examples in edits at the moment.

I'm using premiere pro 2 in my digital class. I also have access to after effects, but would rather not go there unless i have to.
The effect I'm looking for is how to use something in a shot (i.e a light post) to transition between two shots.
I have two clips, one Dollies behind a wall to end the shot, and the other dollies from behind a different wall to start the shot. And i would like to "morph" them together so that it appears to be one slide effect going through a wall.
I have tried everything from changing opacity, to different slide transitions and wipes. I cant seem to get it right.


Thanks for your help, hope that made a little bit of sense.

if it is the same effects as CS5, i think youre looking for cross dissolve

video transitions>dissolve>cross dissolve

if you have an example it would be easier

thats just 2 shots put together, first one stops behind a wall and the other starts behind a wall

im pretty sure cross dissolve would work, it also takes an almost perfect shot to get, looks sick if you can get it

fuck. maybe the shot is my problem then. the mac miller example is exactly what im trying to do.
i tried the cross dissolve, didnt work out as well as i had liked. i will try again tomorrow and try and make it work. thanks guys!

use a garbage matte. 8 point probably will be fine if the wall is straight. then layer the two clips

also there's this free plug-in of this 50 point garbage matte in final cut pro i've used.
But I've noticed that it's easier in Motion and or after effects.
