Dude most pros can do a steezey slow blunt 9, it's really not that hard for them to do, and frankly it gets old to see. I don't see how you can progress style, if a trick is grabbed, clean, and stomped it looks sick to me.

AND YES, i would be very disappointed without triples, what would the point of having the year's biggest big air contest without some crazy new stuff being landed.  At the same time i'm stoked to see a bunch of insane grabs go down with mildly difficult tricks too. It needs both, and we'll get both.

Go bigger, do the trick cleaner, and do it in a way nobody has ever done it before.

Sure its easy to do a 540... but its not easy to do the 540 that changed 540s.

Personally, I worry about the format of the contest not being conducive to stylish tricks and rewarding dub 10s and dub 12s.

But whatever goes down, i am suuuper stoked to see it

I saw a video from JOI a while back and they were doing a contest like best 540 best 360 and best 720 of any variation. It was always cool to see who won. They should do something like that this year

I'm gettin really tired of Bishop posting a friggin aerials video every time someone mentions triples and progression.

and sorry, brogans nines are nothing candide or raps weren't doing in 1999. can you imagine if pros were still winning comps with 9's, or switch 10's for that matter?

I think it's dope as fuck that some kids are pushing the boundaries this hard. I want to see a clean grabbed triple and I think we're on the verge of it now. got a problem with that? fine. but you ain't stoppin the progress train.

he posts it because that is what it is. you cant ignore it. doing tipples is pushing the sport to going bigger and doing harder tricks and that is exactly what arials is about. the way I see it, arials are extremely impressive and I respect all the guys that do it. but that is also how I view triples and a lot of the current slope style competition skiers. They are extremely impressive but they got no flavor.

i think that big air contests that are judged out of 2 runs need to have 1 jump that counts for style, and 1 for technicality, i think that KOS did this 2 years ago? it was super sick , cause if finals each skier would do like a dub 12 mute, and then some kind of 7 (usually) with ill grabs and shiftys. then we could have the best of both worlds, ad skiers would be forced to work on both aspects of the sport (technicality and styler)

Okay. No flavor? Tell that to Sammy and Russ. Your argument is the biggest trend whore in skiing. I'm not condoning penciled out or even hucked looking tricks. This is still about smooth style but bringing it to another level.

technicality of trick,Technicality of grabs, air flow, double grabs, perfection of particular axis rotation, all these things can be attributed directly to style. Also, the biggest reason there is such a heavy emphasis on spin flip ratio is namely the format. As has been suggested before we should look to skateboarding, with SKATE like comps.

thats just it whats left- removing your skis like ssx?- heres how I look at it- If you want to see style, then it should be all based on videos- where you can take your time and create something- however this is a competition- and since "style" is equal to art- how do you score style?

thats why good artists dont do art competitions- because it is all completely subjective- what may be amazing for one person can look like shit for another-

I look at it like cars- there are a thousand different styles in cars, and what can look amazing to one person, can look like absolute shit to another- however there are things you can measure ie cornering, acceleration, etc.

and to the jon brogan video up there- any steve stepp video

I think whether you want to see them or not, assuming the jump is good enough, and I'm guessing it will be, then at least one person will do them. Russ was super close to his triple cork and apparently pretty close to the switch triple and I'm guessing he probably wants some redemption on that.

Either way, I think that we'll se some stuff that hasn't been done before. Get that many pros on that high of a level together with a perfectly built jump and something new is going to go down. Last year was right side dubs, this year could be triples.
