the engine doesnt really matter, i make over double the horsepower of the yotas i will with, nearly 4 times the power in some cases and they can still get around fine.
its all about gears, and if theyre available, lockers... and picking good lines
it is for the rear in a 1993 automatic toyota 4runner. theyre on the lower end of the price spectrum which is why theyre appealing, and from what i have heard they are pretty easy to install. what do you mean they hop alot and what do you mean by dd? all i plan to do with my rig is mud once i put some more things on it
i was asking if your rig is a daily driver because installing an auto locker in the rear can make it for a very interesting daily commute..are you already locked up front?
when you go around corners and the differential doesnt work the tires go the same speed, since its not allowing the outer tire to speed up or the inner tire to slow down you end up skidding and "hopping" alot.
an example of this phenomenon is also driveshaft binding, the awd in a subie is smooth turning because it has a center differential, where as the 4x4 in a truck thats part time really doesnt like tight parking lot turning because the drive shafts go the same speed, this effect basically happens in your axles when the diffs are locked.
yep plus i dont even think ill end up paying in cash, hes interested in some other shit i get pretty cheap so win win situation. no body damage or anything, the block is blown but hes giving me two cars, one that doesnt run and one that has the good 160k block to swap it with. all i gotta do is swap it out
