Raw denim

hey ns,

so i was checking out raw denim recently...like purchasing jeans made from unwashed cotton dyed with indigo.  supposedly its super hip right now haha, but definetly looks like something that would be interesting to check out.  Has anyone purchased a pair of jeans like this?  Or does anyone know a quality website where I can pick up a pair for myself?  Thanks a bunch!

i have raw denim and normal denim jeans... there is no difference except that raw denim stains your white shit blue, and is more expensive. Its all marketing.

so if you have raw denim, do they fit better than prewashed denim, since, from my understanding, it forms to your body shape?

All denim will form to your body's shape if you don't wash them and continue to wear them for a long time. The same goes for creases and wear marks. Any denim will eventually show creases but raw denim tend to do it much faster and it is more distinct and unique. There are a lot of companies that product raw denim jeans just look at what fit you're going for then try to find someone who makes that fit.

I would check out some denim forums for raw denim questions. I am no expert but with raw denim the look feel fit of the pant comes all with wear over time. I think the standard is like 6 months without a wash or soak. but dont quote that. Japanese raw and selvedge denim is the way to go

It's important to remember that the appeal of raw denim is that you create your own unique wear on the jean. This is why it is important to NOT wash them. Regular washing will ruin the fit you originally had and create an even loss of indigo, essentially ruining the hard work you put in creating your own wear pattern. I would look into buying one wash jeans, as these can produce similar wear patterns, but you can wash them if you really need to without losing the fit you originally had.
I'd also advise against buying online as every fit is different and its hard to know exactly how it will look without trying it on. If you really need to, PM me and I'll hook you up with a site like the Clymb but for clothes.

haha truth i dont really wash my jeans either.  thanks for all of the help guys! i wish this shit wasnt so damn expensive, but im thinking about taking the plunge....

if you know what type of fit your going for and know the measurements and shit check out ebay. Ive been searching for a certain pair of diors for quite a bit. Educate yourself on bootlegs and fakes a little bit before purchasing. But there are tons of good shit on ebay
