saddam may have been waging a small war, but lets take a look at a country like North Korea, or even Iran. Both countries have the messed up governments, and the means to start a nuclear war. I believe that countries like these pose a bigger threat for war than Iraq did. so the question is; why don't we invade these countries if Iraq was such a threat? The answer comes when you look at the number of predicted economic factors that would benefit the U.S., if we went to war. But in the end, was it worth the loss of life, the amount of dollars, and the bad politics? I don't believe that it was.
Many countries have been linked to supporting Al Qaeda. You don't see the U.S. government going after them like we did Iraq. As I said, we went to Iraq due to a list of predicted benefits. Lets look at countries outside of the middle east that support terrorism. Consider countries in South America like Colombia, Nicaragua, Peru; all of these countries host a number of terrorist groups that practice guerilla warfare, the murder of innocent people, and drug smuggling. Countries in Africa like Sudan (Darfur), Angola, and Uganda are all victims to the same problem. You don't see the U.S. stepping in on the situations in these countries. All of these countries pose threats to society, just as Iraq was believed to.
Saddam's massacres were nothing compared to genocides that have taken place during this century. look at Darfur, or Rwanda. You didn't see any U.S. intervention there, because there was no special interest for the U.S. in those situations.
Saddam may have kicked weapons inspectors out of Iraq, but there are countries that don't let the UN in period, or comply with them by any means; that is why the UN has sanctions on so many countries, just as they did on Iraq. Again, zero U.S. intervention on those countries.
Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. If Al Gore would have been elected over Bush in the 2000 election, we would have not gotten involved in Iraq. Al Gore would have taken us to war in Afghanistan, because that war was justified, unlike the war in Iraq.
The world has not resented all wars. Take a look at the Korean Conflict, World War II, World I, and so on. Many positive things have come from those wars.
The world did not believe Saddam had WMDs; Bush believed it, and he used it as an excuse to invade Iraq, in hope to take advantage of the country, and benefit our economy.
