I am planning a heli-skiing trip in silverton next year, what would be some fat, rockered skis that would work well?? I was thinking Armada JJ or obsethed and if you recommend a ski, could you please recommend some good bindings for it too?
Armada JJ's won't disappoint! Another great alternative would be the Rossi S7. I love both skis equally. I'm a HUGE fan of the reverse sidecut rockered skis for pow/big mountain though.
I rock Marker's on my pow skis and don't have any complaints. Everyone on this site is so opinionated about bindings though. Each to their own really.
Ew, no. Then stay away from them. You want a stiff ski, especially if you're spending thousands to go heli skiing. There is nothing more that I hate than soft sloppy unreliable fat skis.
Don't make the mistake of thinking soft = playful.
This. I own JJs right now and EPs. EPs are just wayyyyyyyyyy too soft they are kinda fun don't get me wrong but not something you want to be stuck with. If you want a truly powder specific ski get the Moment Donner Party they are ridiculously fun and not floppy like EPs, Hellbents, etc.
I wouldn't mess around with a soft pow ski and make sure not to buy a ski only good in powder. There's no garantee for neck deep pow. A ski like the Armada JJ, Atomic Bent Chetler, or K2 Obsethed will be sick in variable conditions. Any ski with a medium to stiff flex, rockered tip and tail, and camber underfoot will probley be pretty fun. As for a binding I like Salomon Sth bindings they come in dins 12, 14, and 16; the 12 or 14 will probley work fine unless you feel the need for your skis to be basically be bolted to your boots. Have fun next year lol. It would of helped if you gave us your height and weight.
2nd this. The Driver to design has been around for 20+ years. I have the STH 14 Driver mounted on my Bibby Pros. The wings and toe height are manually adjustable, plus the Driver has more metal, beefier components than the regular sth. T
