Help Me Make House Music.

I'm bored, and in the interim between school and my band, I find myself with alot of free time I'd like to fill with MORE music.

So... I love house and electro. No.2 genre in my heart, and I'd like to start making some, because I have no idea how and it I'd really like to get good at it.

Things I have:

Several amps
2 guitars (1 electric)
A sturdy Laptop
Ableton.


How do I get started? I've fooled around with ableton a bunch (just got it) and it's still quite a mystery. Wat do Media/arts?

listen to a lot of house and electro, and figure out what parts make up each song.

then start with a beat, simple, then add to it. then create a lead, base line, etc.

Actually, this is more of a "How to Use Ableton" thread, because it's fucking crazy, and also how can I interface/what do I need to interface with my guitar.

I come up with great beats in my head - i just wanna know how i can lay 'em down like with guitar, bass and all that stuff IRL.

Do some research. There are loads of articles out there, loads of tutorial videos. Dig a little and you will find the answers to your production questions.
