Squaw Evacuation.

I live on sandy and for those who live in tahoe you know its been dumping all week! i think its 100 inches in the last week. the sheriff just came by my house and said that we should evacuate due to high avalanche danger behind our house! Squaws claiming a 670 inch base at the top! im stoked! Im not leaving!

Kirkwood was so amazing today everyone run was fresh because the wind blew snow in so much snow gnarly lines are no longer gnarly

Those tree are on a  ridge. 

Here's the bottom terminal of the Lost Dutchman cahie at Boreal.  Thats the same snowcat blade in this picture but now its level with the bullwheel and guide shieve. It's nearly impossible to keep up with 250 inches of snowfall in a 12 day span with  nearly constant 50mph wind being exposed on Donner Summit.

yeah i was at squaw today
it wasnt as good as i thought it would but it was still great.
A ton of wind though and super low light.
There was so much snow that when you where on one of the lifts your feet would touch the ground. I think its called red dog or something.

If you've ever skied Squaw (or tahoe in general) in a storm like that, you'd understand. Squaw sometimes will closet he mountain because the winds get so nasty there. I've been on the KT22 lift when the winds are blowing so hard my chair came inches from hitting the lift pole. I grew up skiing there and I've also skied pow days where the light was so flat I didn't know what run I was skiing until I got down to the groomers below them. It gets pretty gnarly sometimes. I've never experienced anything like that outside of Tahoe.

See shitty weather doesn't bother me at all. Rain or shine i love to ski. I dont complain about the weather ever, only about lift lines.

I dont only ski park. I ski park when there is no new snow.

I understand that you cant ski super steep or hard stuff when the weathers shit. But you can still ski and enjoy yourself when the weathers bad.

I understand stopping and falling can suck but wind and low light isnt enough to ruin my day.

Each to their own i guess.

stopping and falling in bottomless snow on flat terrain because of vertigo sucks sooo much. you try and get up, your poles sink in to the handles, and you flounder around for minutes tryna get back up, meanwhile you are thinking about everyone else whooping and yelling and getting to your stashes.

that shit sucks, but thats a risk on a pow, the funnest kind of day. No where in anyones post did it ever refer to the day being ruined.
