so i demoed some 183 bentchentlers yesterday and was pretty disappointed. keep in mind that i didn't ski them in deep pow, but im assuming they're awesome in deep pow. the point is, so are my one lifes, and they're way less terrifying on groomers. i've had surface one lifes since december and really liked them, but i'd always kinda assumed all the bigger companies (atomic, rossi, armada) would make a better pow ski that was less sketch on groomers, especially cause they cost almost twice as much as surface (one lifes are 400 on evo right now). the tail on the bentchentlers was literally worthlessly soft...i could lean back a bit and pretty much fall over, and would just wash out on any type of groomer turn at any speed. i took 4 runs on them before i sheered off the shitty salomon (atomic branded) heelpiece, and then had to ski down all of copper mt with one ski that can't turn, instead of two.
in their defense, i'm 6'3'', 180 lbs, and should have been on the 192, but they didn't have them to demo. still though, only 6 cm shorter than my surfaces and sooo much worse on anything not pow. even in the 6 inches of fresh pow in the woods, my surfaces just felt way more nimble and solid. the one thing the bentchentlers were more fun for was big nose butters, cause the 8 degree rocker on the surfaces is a little awkward to butter on hardpack. but nose butters on groomers isn't my priority for a pow/all mt ski.
those are the only two fat rockered pow skis i've been on, but i was so surprised/disappointed with the bentchentlers and figured i should make a thread.
