Snowboarders gotta learn how to snowboard

Carving and turning is not hard on a board so figure out and quit sideslipping and pushing away all the snow on every run. Get a f*cking clue. It's way to common. God, if you can't snowboard, try skiing.

OP, I bet you backflipped right out of the womb on your twin tips right? Just like any sport it takes time to progress.  Personally, I know that I went through a period where if I was uncomfortable, I would keep my board perpendicular to the mountain.  This enabled me to experience the tougher terrain and get a feel for it before I just went blasting through.  Everyone progresses differently, If they want to try and boardslide the whole mountain let them.  They paid the same price as you for their lift ticket.  Just avoid them.

how bout we start by just not discriminating. Beginner skiers never seem to find themselves on in bounds steep terrain that has GREAT snow, but snowboarders, however, seem to think this is the place for them. and down they go, grooming away good snow and good skiing

This. 4 out of 5 people ruining the slopes are boarders it seems like. At least beginner skiers stay on gentile terrain and wedging down the hill does absolutely nothing compared to a snowboarder sideslipping down.

At least for learning it is. Skiing offers more stability and the ability to wedge that shit all day till you learn how to turn. Snowboarding you just get going really fast, hit a bump to a double dork into the woods every time until you figure out how to carve.

2. Ski with all those boarder-hating pricks (no offence to deer valley the skiing is great)
3. Shut the fuck up

Boarders have exactly the same rights as we do on the hills. Everyone here started somewhere; all of newschoolers pushed snow down the hill at one point in their life.

Bumps on the hill are not a problem to someone who can ski well, so stop fucking complaining and have some respect.

if you have ever watched lessons, snowboarding or sking, you would realise that turning on skis is waay easier and snowboard turns take twice as much practice and time, chill the fuckk out i see more skiers doing pizza before they hit the rail and dig their edges in on the lips so its equal. thats the point of parkstaff.

It's not that they make bumps (which would happen if they did actually carve - both skiers and boarders). It's that they side slip the fuck out of a steep face and scrape it down to ice. There is no denying that this happens all too often, and to a much greater degree with knuckle draggers than with skiers. They get on to terrain that is way out of their league and then destroy the snow conditions.

Disclaimer - I was a knuckle dragger for about 10 years before seeing the light and picking up a set of sticks 5 years ago, so I got nothin' but love for both, but there's no denying that this does happen.

Pointless thread though. This solves nothing...unless OP just needed to vent.

What's your point? I snowboarded for 6 years then tried skiing. I could ride switch on my second run. And I don't mean I was just going backwards, I was rippin switch. It all depends on prior experiences. Snowboarding is easier to transition to if you longboard or skateboard IMO. That doesn't make skiing easier than snowboarding, it just means I was able to pick up certain parts of it quickly. Put me in the park on planks and you best call a medivac in advance haha.

at my mtn, there is htis steep run, just under the chair and everyone wants to ski it.
i see snowboarders get to the top... sit down and plow their way to the bottom.
i woundnt complain if i havent come close to hitting them every fucking time i ski that run.

don't ski/snowboard a run greater then ur abilities. and snowboarders, please dont just jam ur heel edge in and fuckin rip the snow off.

Generally, you will not see a skier side slip the entire way down a relatively steep run. Sorry, you just don't fucking see that.

But if I had a nickel for every fucking snowboarder that is in an area way above their ability level (which in some cases isn't much) riding their heel edge all the way down a run, or even large portions of one, I would have enough to buy a fucking mountain and ban dumbasses, such as yourself, from it.

haha... youre the little bitch... what the fuck are you even complaining about? snowboarders learning to snowboard down runs you dont even ski?   i see JUST AS MANY skiers doing the above for mentioned things. Even skiing most of my pow days at a mountain like Brighton (80/20 snowboarder/skier ratio) i do NOT see a big difference in beginner snowboarders compared to beginner skiers.  And youre stupid as fuck comment about snowboarders finding themselves in over their heads more is completely asinine.  Both groups of riders will have people that end up in places that they shouldnt be.


not to mention im sure youre queer as moves just as much snow with your amateur abilities then the snowboarders that you are so much against.

yo, i gotta kinda agree. i mean on a beggining slope its fine but alot of time all the beginners go to a blue-black and ice the shit out of it while you need to avoid them pizza turning across the whole fucking run. especially when you try to get past a ski school train that turns across the whole run its a bitch. but hey, gapers gotta gape. /rant

1. To the people talking about being able to carve on skis or a snowboard after 2 runs, you clearly don't know what carving is. The word you were looking for is turning.

2. I would agree there is a larger amount of snowboarders pushing snow off the mountain.

3. I would say there are a larger amount of skiers taking 20 turns down a 5 turn line chewing up more snow.

The mountain is everyones and we all chew up the snow in the end, more reason to get first chair in the morning on a new snow day.

having snowboarded and now skiing, I can definitely understand why snowboarders sideslip stuff, but what pisses me off is when they do it on a pow day, on any other day i really dont mind. But in powder it not only ruins the good snow, but it causes mini avalanches on the steeps. having been hit by a few of there on some of the steeper parts of blackcomb, its not only annoying, but dangerous as well. if people went with their skill range it would be fine, but when skiers of boarders go over their abilities is when problem occur. I have to rag more on snow boarders for this because they get more snow built under them; a skier can sort of shuffle down (minimizing the mini avalanches and the damage to the snow)

Summary: anyone out of their skill range sideslips and ruins snow, not just boarders; It is still annoying as hell but you just have to deal with it.

there are good snowboarders out there who rip and do it up good but most of them are just fucking pathetic.
