I'm dead serious you guys, lets all just move out there. I'm finishing my studies this year and I would love if some guys would just give up their normal lifes and join me. We'll work ofc, find a local job at a store or something. Nothing major, but so that we could afford food and extras. I also know how to run a website, so we could get some money out of that too. Then, lets just ski all year long, and in the summer we can ride downhill bikes. This is the sweet life. Haven't you ever wished you did something with your life, you know, just living it to the fullest? We could to that, no problem. Condo's can be bought up there for around 200.000$ with a direct ski line to the resort. The season doesn't end until June. This is actually possible, I'm not a troll, I'm not kidding. Anyone want to join me for a year or two. Afterwards, when we want to establish our own life, we'll just sell the house and split the money by contract. I'm getting goosebumbs even thinking about this. There are also possibilities for studying there aswell. Work like 3 days a week and skiing on the nights, then skiing 3 days straight all day long. Anyone sharing my ideas?
I'm soooo tempted to do this. I feel that after 19 years of education, I could do with a break before starting another 5 years of education then full time work.
wrong. ski instructor fine if thats your thing but dont become a lifty. it IS work and you have to work during the day, ya know when you wanna ski....
the best deal is to get a job at a restaurant working in the kitchen doing whatever so you get night shift from like 4 till 11 or whatever and then you ski all day + you get discounted food. a necessity as a ski bum. ...i say this out of experience btw :P
i spent many summers in whistler, worked in a ski shop for 3 years also and and all the older guys swore by what i said above. ( older as in retired ski bums lol...so theve been around!)
got a job offer in mammoth his past season and was soooo close to moving there from CT. Things get very expensive very quickly, but best of luck to you man!
get a job in australia and new zealand also. allows yout ski nearly all year. its what i do and you only miss out on skiing around one month of the year.
i live in australia so i work there from june till october. then come to canada and work from november till may. only time i miss out on snow is when im waiting for snow during late october, early november
i want to do this badly once i graduate from college, my parents also support me 100% i honestly think i would take this offer up if it was like 8 years from now
Mammoth is the place to be. Open till july, spring skiing conditions for 120+ days. I'd take Mammoth over Whistler, just because of the sun and the climate.
If you are good with computers and running a website, really look into that as a way to make money. I have friends who didn't go to college and are "internet marketers" the people who send out spam ads and they make a grand a week doing pretty much nothing. Or maybe design websites for companies in the evenings after skiing. You can make 5-10k a website easily.
