Why Ultimate Frisbee is the Best Sport

I just copied the baseball thread because I do not agree with it.


1. It is the hardest sport to play, unbelievably physically demanding. (You never stop running)
2. A sport where the winning team can't run out the clock, (Pussy move anyway)
3. Everyone that plays competetively plays because they actually love the sport. (there is no money in professional ultimate)
4. There is no time constraint. It is a game to seventeen points. Games go on for hours.
5. Its fun as fuck and anyone can pick up the basics quick.
6. There are no stupid rules.
7. It is self refereed.

Last of all, and most importantly; those who say ultimate is lame, you are only saying that for the mere fact that you have never actually played.

its pretty fun at the beach once and a while but all the kids at the high school i went to and they were top 10 in ny state for ultimate were the biggest fucking tools on earth. Such a stupid sport. Frisbee is for little kids and beaches and chill bro sesh's. Play a real sport.

Explain how this is a competitive sport? Compietition implies there are winners and losers, but in the "sport" of masterbation there is only a loser with a dick in his hand

But on the real, the really good athletes dont play ultimate because why would you when you could be getting paid to play a real sport...or at the very least getting your education paid for to play a real sport.

ultimate is for high school heroes, and recreational athletes. Looks hella fun, but if you had the secondary from a D1 football team pitted against the world champs of ultimate frisbee. D1 would wreck shit. Even if they had no experience they are faster, stronger, can jump higher,are bigger, and are better all around athletes. As well they are in incredible cardiovascular shape.

fun to play until people get really competitive. Then it sucks. It's a fun, relaxing, exercising game. But there's always some asshole who starts calling you on pivoting wrong on something.


ha and at my school, 6 of us managed to remove the "official" school team from the field because we wanted to play pick up soccer.

i fucking love ultimate. so long as its a game with chill people. it loses some of its luster when you have guys out there who live, breathe, eat, and sleep ultimate.

not true at all. it all depends on what you grow up on. i have a friend who's been playing serious ultimate since 6th grade and he's in better shape than any other athlete i know. this could be an exception though, his high school won junior nationals his senior year

my bro plays college ultimate and they travel all over to play in tournaments. he's in good shape and they rage and have a good time.


and from SWPL:

its really not even close. To play a skill position in D1 you have to be a rediculous athlete...im not talking really good, im talking one of the best 50 athletes in the state( 115 D1 schools x 30 skill players on a team- some to other sports).



Being in shape does not equal freakishly athletic.

It's a shit ton of fun. Used to play all the time in highschool and for a couple years after.

Also ran xc at one point so I was actually in really good shape instead of being a lazy piece of shit.


We got a few teams together, started running tournaments and it actually got pretty legit for a while. Last time I played I went to dinner with my parents at a christian resort my dad works at, heard something about a staff ultimate game at night. Told my buddy and we decided to pound a bunch of beer before we went. Guarding a black dude. Not trying to be racist but he was ridiculously fast. Some how kept up with him and guarding other people cause our team blew. Right before my heart exploded I started throwing up and we left

I do agree that it is better than baseball.
I have never played an actual game but just messing around yeah it's pretty fun.

id say its pretty unreal

its great because of everything the OP said and you dont have any physical constraints like football, all the padding, rugby, running with the ball, basketball, dribbling the ball. so you pretty much win if you are faster, smarter, can jump higher and catch better then the other team. the games are usually really close (other then a stacked game) and all you need to play is space and a frisbee.

Such a good feeling when you're sprinting down the field and you fucking jump over everyone and rip that fucking ultrastar out of the sky.

Plus it's nice how you call your own fouls, no refs needed, and people aren't dicks.

True I used to play with dirty hipppies. Rocked head band as well. For the most part everyone was chill. I stopped playing with people who were dicks, they didn't understand the spirit of the game.

Nice to toss once in a while at fests or play some kanjam on lot.


even when it's ridiculously windy you can still blast a ripping forehand through nice and level. It's fucking beautiful.

ultimate can be just as challenging as you make it! just like skiing. you can always take any sport to the next level. in ultimate you can always pass farther, perfect different catches and throws, jump higher to catch higher catches, get higher to catch normal catches and think your catching amazing catches, whatever you want. any sport (any thing) is what you make of it. it may take you years or milliseconds for you realize/understand this fact, but do so.

haha thats what i was going for, good read. Ultimate is pretty fun, i just don't like to run that much. I'd rather just climb and ski... and fuck baseball, they are the most over paid people on earth.
