Thoughts on pulling

What are they?

Should they be allowed? Should they not be allowed? If so, when? Why? I'm curious!

Also, care to add ideas to the topics thread? You guys make this contest, so please. 27 of you looked at it.

Seeing how few entries weve been getting, id say start accepting pulls a few days before the contest closes. Id like to think that most peoples pulls (mine included) arent usually years old. just stuff that we like that we didnt necessarily shoot specifically in that 2 weeks.

I'm gonna go ahead and agree with this. I'll put this forth: if we've never seen it before, you can enter it, but ONLY if you have had a legit reason for which you weren't able to shoot... not just 'cause you didn't wanna. If you've asked us for a crit on it, or posted it in the "your best photography" thread, etc. then don't enter it.

id agree to the not posting it elsewhere. as for the reason, thats pretty much pointless. people can make up anything. but i think generally people have just been busy. it seems like in the fall and summer when people arent trying to balance skiing and school there are a lot more submissions. i havent entered in the last few because between skiing and schoolwork i really have been too busy.

I think that allowing people to pull ruins the whole point of a themed photo contest.
The only reason there weren't many entries last time was because it was a hard topic.
Maybe to solve the problem of not getting enough entries (which I dont think is muh of a problem right now) you could extend the standard time for the contest. I dont think that is neccessary tho, i think its just fine how it is

I'd agree with allowing pulls. A good picture is a good picture, no matter when it was taken.

This, I like how no pulling encourages you to go out and shoot. maybe allow it at the end or perhaps split the contest in two for pulls and photos taken during the deadline?

Thanks for the replies, those of you who actually did. I really hate that there isn't more interaction with this. I would think that those who participate would have a louder voice. I guess not. Kinda disappointing when I put all this time and effort in.

I thought that would be a problem though, I know how much of a pain it is to organize these things already.

I think you should be able to pull a photo within a week or two of the contest; because that way you're still actively shooting.

EXIF data can be proof too!
