i completely understand, i was more focusing on him completely shitting on umass and claiming the only way it tops bu is campus crime rate.
we have competitive classes here as long as you dont pick a joke major. i know our compsci department is one of the best, and we have a competitive business and nursing program, as well as decent engineering among other programs. the idea that you cant get a quality education at umass is dumb and ignorant.
besides, this isnt a violent campus anymore. the news makes a big deal out of the stuff that happens in the spring, and other than that the only thing i can think of in the 3 years ive been here has been done by a visitor (stabbing during last years black out weekend).
i feel like umass amherst gets shit on by kids because its public education in a state where there are so many private schools to choose from that people overlook it as a terrible school. i know it was my safety school and i didnt realize until i got here that it wasnt a joke. you get out of school what you put into it, and while i certainly wont have the name of a bentley or boston university, i can certainly get the same quality of education out of umass as you will your school.
