really? i mean what did you expect? if a vid has Jamie Pierre in it its gonna have some cool lines, a very, oversized cliff, and hip first landings...just goes with the territory.
being surprised at Jamie pierre hot tubbing a cliff is like being shocked that Thall's new outerwear is rasta themed. Thats their schtick.
when you leave a bomb hole big enough for you and five friends. Your momentum stops, whether by hip checking or not, and you have to climb out of the fucker to keep skiing.
See that's bullshit to me. Pierre landed on his fucking head. That alone disqualifies his attempt in my mind. He came no where close to sticking it and is extremely lucky he can still ride.
Fred (dude who accidentally sent it off a far bigger cliff) came away in the same condition and seems to have landed a lot cleaner than Pierre.
see that's what i'm sayin, he doesn't even aim for his feet, he kicks them out and goes for his head. a hip check you can bounce out of and keep riding... he straight up flops. it's his choice and he obviously deserves some props for going obscenely large but...
i've dug myself plenty of hot tubs too but i just think one oughtta go into the take off with the aim of riding out....
It's really easy to armchair QB it and say he should have tried to land on his feet off that cliff. Some cliffs require hot tubbing or your ankles will be in your knees...that's one of them. It's a specialized skiing technique for a specific situation. You can't compare this 70 footer to a maximum 30 degree slope to stompable 70 footers in Alaska with steep landings.
but why would you want to do anything else when you feel "glorious and fantastic"? i mean dude is pretty stoked on his technique, so it must be pretty fun!
This is exactly right. If you look at the landings on the Pierre world record or on any of the shit that Julian Carr does, trying to stick it to your feet could be potentially very bad. Also, Pierre has been doing this kind of stuff for a long time and in order to have a lengthy career in his line of work it helps to not go knee to face on a flattish landing at those speeds.
how about this, im pretty sure thats the same air the dude 3s in the bolero project. someone just reposted that recently and they do it wayyyyyy better than pierre.
Don't talk SHIT unless u know the facts. That is PIERRE doing the 3 in the Bolero project u idiot!! Prophet go ski with Pierre and you will be stoked!!
man this video represents that he has no skill at all... sad. what a 50-60ft. cliff to your side with no attempt at all to land? nice job. go ski for real so we can enjoy it, like you used to do. and for the people defending him, you're idiots because that means you don't know what lawn darting is, or what hero snow is. with that said, props to him for sending massive cliffs but keep in mind that a huck doll could do the same job, but steezier.
you are very dumb/ignorant. pierre is a great skier. Do skiers with no skill hit chads gap? plus he is getting really really old so maybe landing on his feet will hurt him easier. just shut up sometimes.
you're probably homies with him but i still stand by my opinion. and do skiers with no skill hit chads? well yeah i bet people have, but to LAND chads, it takes a lot of skill. anyone can fall whether its off a cliff or a jump. it's not impressive.
if he tried to land on his feet, he would have shattered aver bone in his body. you CAN NOT ski out of a 255ft cliff drop - no questions asked, it cannot be done. Pierre landed perfectly for a drop that big.
Pretty much. If it's a record for biggest cliff skied off without dying, Fred wins easily. What does it matter if he didn't mean to do it, he still did it and came out just as cleanly as Pierre.
