This movie was insane. Mostly, because I could kind of connect to it in a way. I've dreamed of being able to create a drug that can open up your brain in order to use more of it. But the big brain fuck is how the hell would it work. Would it even be possible for man kind to create a drug that would induce full on brain usage? The concept of the drug seems like it could be beneficial in a similar way to acid, being that if used properly the user can gain vast knowledge, but if abused things will just go wrong.
Another thing that stands in the way from a drug like NZT ever being created is governments. By criminalizing the creation of such a drug there are so many bad situations that could occur. I think the movie did a good job of portraying the bad situations. Without proper testing by scientists, the long and short term effects of the drugs would be unknown. It is something that is ever present within the black market of drugs. What if some chemical contaminates a whole batch of LSD. The outcome is disastrous. If it was legally put in the hands of scientists, there would be almost no chance of that happening.
