Pitt v. Butler ending

So i'm not really a pitt or butler fan but i do have money on this tournament as im sure many of you do. Now if you like me, and know a thing or two about college basketball you probably realize that Pitt's not the best 1 seed there ever was, but due to the lack of competition (or so we thought) in the southeast, putting them in the final four was a good move. Im a little flustered that the game ended the the fashion it did, and that i must suffer the consequence. If they had legit\ lost i wouldn't be so annoyed.

If you didn't see it, with less then two seconds to go, butler rebounds the ball, rebounds a foul shot and immediately throws his hands and the ball into the air, loose ball foul called, and being in the bonus they get foul shots to win the game.

Thoughts on this? Should the refs have let it go? Should it have been called? Whats the deal?

He wasn't fouled when he chucked the shot, he was fouled on the rebound.

It was still part of regulation. Just because there was less than a few seconds left doesn't mean the refs can stop officiating (see St. John's in Big East tourney?). It was the right call.

Im honestly just wondering what people think. I think they should of let them play. If you watch a reply of the last 7.1 seconds its insane. A game couldn't of ended in a crazier fashion.

I'm in the same situation as you, and am a bit frustrated but you gotta look at it like this: they shouldn't have let it get to a situation like that in the first place. If they were the better team today then they wouldn't have let it come down to that.

letting them play is stupid. If it would have been a foul 1st play of the game it should be a foul last play. A foul is a foul IMO

I know what you mean but watch the replay. It was just two guys going hard for the ball. There is so much of that stuff going on every single time they go up for a rebound, and the one time they call it is to give Butler a chance to win it. I just think you have to let that little contact go in that situation because they let stuff like that go all game.

They did a good job. I can understand small fouls being ignored, but both calls were clear fouls.

They were both blatant, and STUPID, fouls by each team. There was no way that a ref couldn't have called those.

I know mostly nothing about basketball other than that it is pretty fun to watch, so this might be retarded, but here it goes. Say the ref didn't call it, thus not giving Butler the chance to make those foul shots and win. Then there would be tons of pissed off Butler fans, and a possible small media shit storm over the fact that poor officiating might have completely altered the outcome of the game. In this case, it sounds like it was good officiating, which nobody can really argue with in my opinion.

Again, I accept the fact that that may have been the most retarded post ever made on this website, because I really probably don't know what I'm talking about. But its based off of my general knowledge/perception of sports and how situations like this usually play out. If its the case that this post was in fact stupid, heres a free bump.
