I did but i dont know how much better the resorts around us are either, they may ave decent skiing and parks (some at least) but at sunshine, a lift fell of with a kid on it. and at Lake louise, a lift inspector closed a quad chair because ir was unsafe, the chair was reopend a few days later, because louise was loosing business. Every resort has problems and we need to get better ownership. my $.02

Steamboat sucks. This was my last season there and your right they promised all this cool shit. Steamboat's park is run by some poser snowboarder who has no idea how to build jumps. Steamboat is 4 years behind the other big name resorts. They failed to maintain the superpipe shit they should have just plowed the pipe down and made a 120ft hip. I still had fun living there for 2 years hopefully they will realize just how gay their park is and make some changes.

Brothers and sister of the true form of skiing. listen to your feelings. i apoligize for my ramblings but the level of disrepect toward us (and even toward our one-plank bretheren) has just escalated. write to your owners and tell them to consider us. we can move things in numbers. and spread the power and influence we hold to places with potential for parks. esp. Sun Valley.

I would like to bring up a point that a young resident skier of Steamboat had posted already on a different thread. The second to last week of Steamboat’s season there was to be a competition in Steamboat’s “superpipe.” There were major sponsors like Spyder and the presenting sponsor Mountain Dew. Because of the aforementioned “business impotence”, Steamboat and ASC cannot hire a decent park planner. Our current one, John Asta, thought that the left wall needed to be built up. Instead of doing this a week before or something reasonable, the alteration was made day/night before the comp.

The day of the comp comes and there was an unexpected surprise. FREEZE had somehow heard about this competition and showed up. There was a huge crowd and an unpredicted amount of competitiors. The magazine people were emphatic but this would not last. As the improvised wall disintegrated, the vibe died. In the middle of the comp, FREEZE bailed. In short it was a disaster, which broke many of the camels backs. There is another corporate enemy here, other than ASC. Our president of marketing, Andy Wirth, has as much “impotence” as the company that owns his fu-fu ass.

Mr. Wirth uses words that try to make him seem intelligent, like “interface” and “synergy.” The Friday before this comp, Andy Wirth-less, sends our advertising president, Doug LaPlaca, to Aleyeska for a conference to “interface” with other resorts. Mr. LaPlaca had organized the event and now the only person to deal with the complications that arose. This is just the most fresh event in my mind even though there have been many before and even up to now.

Well, if you have been following the news, Steamboat was supposed to be bought two months ago by Okemo but Vail bought Heavenly from ASC and so ASC had the money to keep us. Quite the shady business move. Then a few weeks ago it came out that ASC was defaulting on a loan and that they were moving their corp. offices w/out telling the SEC. Now, it seems that Steamboat will fucking foreclose because of all of their shit.
