i know im not the first to say this and i also knwo that im probably gonna get alot of hate for this but I really tired of seeing Kevin Rolland winning Pipe with the same run for 2 years in a row. Also im tired how he gets so over-rated

kinda reminds me of" Hotdog: The Movie", when Harkin Banks getts fuck over by Rudi, when everybody can see that Hakrin had a much better run...

yeah dumont and dorey where insane and extremly under-rated...

yeah thats just my 2 cents..

im gonna have to agree with you on this one. Like in dew tour on the final stop kevins run was clean but I think he scored 95. his tricks wernt even big but somehow he got this wicked high score and won the dew cup. I mean dont get me wrong the guy is good at pipe, I just dont like his style

Totally agree, yeah he is good at pipe, thats not a question. He just does the same shit and i want to see something else... Also, his style just doesn't do it for me, there are plenty of other guys who could be winning no doubt.

Consistency is hard in the pipe. Not to mention if you take one deep, your speed if not your whole run is shot.

This, and you will see him on the podium each year man. This guy is pretty good, not the best style but he have a good bag of trick. Btw why make a thread on him, this remind me the threads on Dumont . ( btw sorry if im hard to understand, im better in french)

i agree that his run is getting very boring just because he has it n lock so much. Hes not over rated because what he does is insane but itd be nice to see him change it up a bit and push the sport

Yeah but it's even harder to be consistent when you change your run. I don't think there is anything wrong with Kevin Rolland it's just that the judges give him way too high of scores.

I have to agree with the OP. Of course it's all different comps, but what if you laid down a slopestyle run that consisted of 3 switch dub 10's with a mute? I mean, that's boring and you surely wouldn't get a high score for it.

Same with Rolland: if he wins the x-games, euro x-games and dew tour with it, pretty much the most prestigious events, it's sorta lame. A bit of mixing up would be nice, if it only would be the tricks in his runs. They're always in the same order as well. I don't even have to watch his run because it's flawless anyway and I already know what he's gonna do before he even started.

Nevertheless he is fucking awesome and should be credited for it, but he should try something new. And I like he's french. Not enough sick-ass skiers from the alps. In fact the only ones that actually win a lot of stuff would be him and Ambühl. There's others too, but not enough!

People seem to forget that this is a competition. If you want entertaining skiing, go watch a ski movie or an edit. These guys are not there to entertain you when they are competeting, they are there to win.

So you're bored of Kevin Rolland and his style, doesn't stop him having the best pipe run atm. Again, it's a competetion, and that's the bottom line.

I really think that Kevin's run is sick as hell, but the same exact one for two years in a row...he could try to make it progress even more instead of always sticking to the same "safe formula". The thing that I don't like about French pipe skiers (Rolland, Bertoni, Toto Krief and Ben Valentin) is that they seem to be like they all need to make the finals (to make sure they get the most medals possible) or else they are bummed. And when they learned that Riddle was not competing in the finals and that Thomas Krief could take his spot, they were all so fucking stoked (even though it's a bummer Riddle got hurt...) that one more French guy was making it into the finals. They really remind me of a small group of riders who are going to the olympics and that they only think about themselves and don't even give a damn about other competitors. But take all this with a grain of salt, it might just be the way I see it.
Don't get me wrong, Kevin Rolland is one of the best pipe skiers in the game but I just don't like France's approach in the sport of FREEskiing.(in halfpipe).

I mean seriously! When is pipe skiing really going to progress?! I think the maximum spin should be a 540 then we could really judge style.

But really - you hate a guy for winning and being pumped about it? You must hate sports in general. As for the people saying he is throwing the same thing... not to sound like a redneck but "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". If he wins and the run is incredible, why would he change it?

i never said he is not a good skier, i just stated that he is not my Favorite.
I prefer other guys on the pipe like Dorey and Simon.

all these 3 guys are on the top of thier game and they are all at the same leel i just think kevin is not getting scored under the same "criteria" as other guys...
specially in france, where absolutly everybody is rooting for him and only him...

i feel if kevin and simon threw down the exactly same run with the same grabs an shit, Kevin would miraculously get score higher than simon

I agree i dont like him. he is one of the best pipe skiers in the game. Every time i watch a big event I hope that dorey or someone else will win. Im tired of him winning

wait til he unleashes double flats, sw dub, no alley oop flat 3 and non alley oop flat 5.

watch the Monster shoot edit you ll see he has some really cool tricks.

you argument is flawed and illogical for the following reasons:

French dudes sticking together in a "team" is hardly surprising. Their english is pretty weak and they spend most of their seasons in a country which traditionally hates france. Toto is only 16. Its not exactly unusual to be stoked for your friends when they do well and bummed when they don't.

The concept of a national halfpipe team isn't exactly new. The canadian halfpipe team (Dorey, Riddle, Marg etc), coached by Trennon Paynter has been in operation for far longer, and why should there be anything wrong with it?

Riddle getting hurt: all we heard on that was Xavier being interviewed and he said something along the lines of "it's a real shame that Riddle got hurt, i hope he gets better ASAP, and it's good for Toto because he gets in"... what the fuck else is he supposed to say? "My friend Toto doesn't deserve to be in there, justice has not been done"?!?! Of course Toto would be stoked to be in at the last minute. Riddle wasn't even badly hurt.

Kevin not smiling after stomping his run: So he just perfectly stomped a run which will likely be good enough for the win in run 1 in front of 15-20 000 of his home fans... If I was him I would probably explode on the spot: you and I have no idea what that feels like. Kevin is one of the most excitable, stoked, smiley people in the sport.

And those guys beating the dead horse of Kevin not trying anything new, did you not watch runs 2 & 3??

can tell you that thomas wasn't stoked at all that riddle got hurt and took his spot!!! thomas felt really bad for riddle and it was just the xgames who wanted 8 riders in finals! they called thomas 10 min before the finals start he just had 1 training run and ended up fifth and he was really stoked about that place
no one in the fernch pipe crew as you call them were happy to see riddle crashed and they all said that for the sport this is not cool from the xgames to replaced riddle 10 min before the comp just cause of the tv!!!!

and for kevin it's like the same as all the riders who keep doing the same tricks on slopestyle and don't get any hate.
could you explain me why you guys are hating on kevin for being the best int the pipe! he has change a bit his run from last year but he just kept his 2 best tricks
i'm not hating on any big air riders but look at the big air scene for the last 3 years where every one are doing dub ten or twelve mute grab so tell me why you're not hating on the big air riders for keepinf doing the same tricks for 3 years now

I am not trying to make a point here, just leting people know my opinion. Yours might be different, and that's ok we each have a different point of view on things.

As for what you said about them being good players with riddle getting hurt... I don't know if you speak french or understand it, but if you do go on skipass.com and watch the pipe videos and their latest followus.tv show and you will understand what I mean.

I completely agree with you that it is the exact same thing for big air comps.

As for Thomas, I know he seemed kind of in shock and not so good about it. But watch this clip and look at Kevin Rolland's reaction about it... I mean he's saying: "Good news, Toto is making it into the finals because Riddle got hurt. I won't be alone!".
