that's pretty awesome, provided he actually is good enough to play. but lets face it, even if he isn't, he can ride the bench and help the team sell tickets..

i wouldn't be surprised if he were a good player though. lots of professional athletes grow up good at a lot of things. it's rare that you find a young guy grow up exclusively practicing one thing. they often choose what they go pro in and give that extra push for, and some even do a couple things professionally (bo jackson, deion sanders).

which always gets me wondering, what if you taught usain bolt to catch a football and juke a few tackles, or put shaq on the defensive line and got him to lean all 7'1 of him into people

carl crawford could have gone pro in both football and baseball.
Bo jackson played professional football and baseball, i think. could be entirely wrong.
julius peppers played basketball and football at UNC.
donovan mcnabb played football and basketball at Syracuse.

This is pretty funny. I'd be very surprised if he actually made the squad though. Soccer's not really a sport where you can take years off and come back and excel again.

i remember reading an article a few months ago saying that bolt actually likes soccer and was down to try playing it professionally. he even went and trained with a legit pro team, cant remember which team it was but im thinking Man U.

yeah, tom glavine who is one of the greatest left-handed pitchers of all time was drafted into the NHL.

and i can't remember who but there was a similar article a while ago on an NHL hall-of-famer who was a college baseball hero

bottom line is that an athlete is an athlete. they know what it takes to be good at something, they're in peak physical condition.. just depends on what they're passionate about (or even what runs in the family)

exactly. to be an athlete, you need certain skills like good hand-eye and speed and whatnot. a lot of sports showcase similar skills to another sport, so it wouldnt surprise me for a great athlete to be good at more than 1 sport.

Bolt playing football would be interesting. But being able to catch a ball in traffic isn't that easy. He'd really only be a deep threat.
And i think the guys on the D/O-Line are big enough. It probably helps to have a lower centre of gravity than Shaq.
