Intuition vs trufit + hype over intuition liners?

Ok. I get that intuition liners are top of the line liners and are very comfortable.

But I don't see the need to spend extra 150 on a liner that I already have and feel comfortable with.

I have trufit by dalbello on my il moros and I see lot of people buying intuition liners.

Does it have that much of a difference on your feet? Am I missing something?

More even pressure across your shins, molds to the boots imperfections really well. Warmer than normal liners. Str8 up super comfortable, you will never go back to normal liners.

i think they are over hyped to dome extent. The shell determines the fit. If its not correct the boot isn't going to fit with any liner. If it is right you can get away with cheaper liners, but intuitions are nice.

You can have an awesome shell shape with a shitty liner and it will feel like shit. You need both to have a great fit.

I just go by whatever feels the best, every shell and liner and foot interacts differently. General advice, if it feels fine, dont fuck with it. Just dont.

I just have the normal liner from my Atomic Hawx 120 (next season 2011/2012 model) and couldn't be happier. I think someone made a topic about the next years models, that they have different liners or whatever I don't know, but they're awesome.

@Onenerdykid, you know anything 'bout this?

Gotta hate my phone , sorry for dub post. So im going to buy some krypton pro and the trufit fits perfect, and i dont think ill drop 150$ more for intuition. Ill buy some custom sole and ill be ok.

yeah I just got some soles and got my shit heat molded. Trufits are so comfortable for me I don't think I need intuition liners. Maybe later.

my intuition liners/boots in general were my best purchase of the season.
they make the biggest difference in skiing, i would def suggest some intuition liners, while the 3:00 foot cramp crowd leaves the mountain im still havin a blast.

intuitions will up the performance of your boot in every way. you will have more control because the boot fits you better and they are much warmer. everyone who's ever gotten a pair at my shop has come back loving them. not nessasary but if youve got the money then go for it.

I like intuition liners because i have a 108mm last foot and no boot comes that big so rather than go through pain waiting for my liner to pack out i get intuitions heat molded. that being said they came with my dalbellos and i didnt pay extra for them.

Hawx doesn't get Intuition for 11/12.

I developed a new Intuition liner for Atomic for 11/12 which will be sold in the Tracker 130 Intuition and as an aftermarket liner. It will feature a strobel lasted alpine sole (just like a normal liner) so you can use any footbed you want and it will come with a plastic tongue. It is by far the best skiing Intuition liner out there since you get all the goodness of Intuition but with a construction that skis just like a normal alpine liner.

I wouldn't really call a intuition freeride or luxury liner with a plastic tongue something you developed... It just has a plastic tongue.

Well being the developer for Atomic, I did develop it. Development doesn't mean you invent something no one has ever thought of before, but just that you help design and create the product. But this is a rather unique product, this combination of materials/components, and hopefully people are stoked on it.

I know, but this isn't like "revolutionary", it just has a plastic tongue, most people might just want it without a plastic tongue... Or better yet, just a power wrap.

On a side note, why doesn't atomic use normal power wraps in their line of boots? Why is the std liner in the volt boot a better option than a power wrap?

i got 09/10 tecnica agent 100 and i have trouble with my shins just rubbing cause i dont fill out the entire area, atleast thats what it think the problem is, would an intuition line help this????

While it may not be the most revolutionary thing to hit liners (and I never said it was), it is a liner type that has not been really produced before. Especially with a strobel lasted bottom. A lot of boot-fitters don't like the current Intuition style of having 8+mm of foam under the foot as it can create fit issues (especially with footbeds). Some, like you noted, like the normal power wrap or FT version. For sure. But there is a lot of interest around this particular set up because it addresses a few main issues with the current Intuition. Is it the answer to all liner problems? No, but it is a new offering to the market which has not really been there before.

For 11/12, The Volt has a unique micro-fiber liner (one of the best outer materials you can use because it conforms instantly to the shell and doesn't pack out like other materials) with 10mm of silicon behind the heel and EVA foam under the heel. These inserts are on a special heel cup designed to not reduce the internal BSL or offset the internal fit. So, the Volt (and Overload Reactor) liner will offer more shock absorption than Intuition, which is what Jossi and the guys wanted and why it is in the Volt and Overload.

Also on this point, Intuition isn't in more of our boots also because of Europe. Intuition is nowhere in Europe and, outside of the UK, few dealers have any idea what it is. Especially in central Europe where boot-fitting is super rare (most shops are very self-service oriented, which is totally insane in my opinion) and thus Intuition struggles because no one really knows how to fit it properly. This is partly why FT isn't very popular in Europe, few dealers want to bring it in because their entire line is Intuition based. This is the unfortunate reality, I wish it were a different story for sure.

That's really cool!

Do you know if I could get another footbed for my 29.5 Hawx? I got a very hard plastic one atm, I figured maybe I could get a soft footbed for absorbing shocks etc. and then I could put the super stiff footbed in for when I want to chaaarge?!

Unfortunately, the Hawx series only has a hard boot-board, there isn't a soft version. It's just the way it was designed. But whenever we come out with a new concept in the future, it will always have a soft boot-board option.

I am going to either need new liners or completely new boots next season/ definitely after next season. It completely depends on how the shells are on my rampages (08's I believe, they are the white and brown ones) because they don't have changeable toe lugs which are getting fairly worn down. All I have in them now are the standard liner, and these boots fit like a dream. Literally as soon as I put them on in the shop, they fit perfectly, the tech didn't even believe me. No pressure points or anything, pure comfort. What should I do as far as getting new liners if I go that rout? Bring the shells into a shop and go from there I am guessing? My current liners are all ripped in the heel now. I had been looking at intuition for a while, but now I am considering trufit as well. I'm guessing it is the same dealio as trying on new boots, just trying out a bunch of different liners and seeing which fits the best?

This is the only issue I have with my Rampages (because of my chicken legs, plus I went up a half size when I bought the boots because I wasn't worried about packing out at the time :/, not sure if that would make a difference though). I temporarily, well permanently because I have done this the whole time I have had these boots haha, but I cut up a mouse pad and put squares in between the tongue and the overlapping tongue on the shell to take up the extra space.

Would intuition liners fix this?

Most boot companies don't keep liners around anymore. It's too much inventory to keep on hand, and most aftermarket business goes to companies like Intuition or Surefoot or Zip Fit or Conform'able... the list goes on. But it will depend on how worn your soles end up being and how much you want to spend. If your soles are worn down, just invest in new boots, it will be a way better option in the long run for you.

Yea that's what I was thinking, seeing as new liners would run roughly $150. Not really worth it if the shell is going to crap out in a year any way. Thanks man, I swear you are one of the most helpful orange names in gear talk.

I think the new intution liner will be great. The old one as onenerdykid said had so much material under the foot it made it pretty hard to get a good stabilastion from the foot. Having no foam under the foot so the footbed can sit flat will be so good. I for one who has never liked intuition liners, is actually pretty exicted for the new ones, I may actually get rid of my cold foam injection liners if it actually works. Fingers crossed.

If it does onenerdykid I will be the first to buy you a pint

The boot-board (thing under the liner which you stand on) and the footbed (thing in the liner directly under your foot) are two different things, so be careful when talking/asking about them.

The way the Hawx shell works (with the i-Flex inserts on the sides) requires a specific boot-board that is unique in the Atomic range. And unfortunately, there is no plan make a soft one. However, if you wanted to get Macguyver on it and try to make a soft copy of it, go ahead.

When they first come out (this fall), they will be available as a "spare part", so talk with your Canadian sales rep or call customer service to order them for the shop.

The next year, we will have it in the catalog and on the price list... there just wasn't time to integrate it for 11/12 unfortunately. I'm more of a Jager guy, fyi haha

i remember those days when technica diablos were one of the only ones that had heat mold-able liners. Was it called hotforms? I don't quite remember. I just think its fucking awesome how far boot technology made progress in recent years.

i have the same question im trying to get some Lupo 110 but they come with trufit. Would I be missing out? I'm skiing with a packed out intuition liner right now.
