Ripped snow pants

So was skiing today and took the tip of the pole to the thigh and now have a 2.5 inch rip in my ski pants. Usually wouldn't care that much but there is a layer of cotton in there for insulation and I don't want it getting soaked, so I was wondering what can I do with them? Is there like a fabric tape or just sew it up or what can i do? Thanks!

i dont know if ur just starting but that happens alot my pants are ripped to shreds at the bottom

i have a 5 inch rip that goes through all layers of my pants, straight to my skin. fixed by duct tape.

dont underestimate duct tape

Super carefully fold a piece of duct-tape and put it inside the rip facing outwards, if you know what I mean. Then put a piece on the outside. Works good.

Duct tape will fall off pretty quickly at the cuff. Sew it and then put some flexible glue over the top to keep it waterproof - I like Evo Stik Serious Glue.

Thanks for the replies. K+ to all you guys. I'll try the duct tape first and see how that works, just sort of needed a temporary fix for the last few weeks of the season. Will probably sew up better this summer. Thanks again!

If you do go for the duct tape heat up the pants first with a hairdryer then stick the tape on then heat the tape a bit (not too much or it'll shrivel up) and sit on it until it cools. Should keep it on a bit longer.
