Drinking culture

Yo.
I wanna know how the UK compares to the US in terms of srinking culture.
So, a few questions with my answers
1)What age do yanks start drinking?
In england people usually start srinking around 16/17 and can confortably get served at this age.

2)Do your parents drink/mind you drinking?
I have just had a few beers with my parents (I'm 17)., they are totally cool with me drinking and think it's normal.

3)When people do get drink available do you all just get hammered straight away without parents consent?
I don't I can jsut drink a few beers with my mates...

I don't know how well I have put this accross, but whatever..

1)15ish usually, and we CANNOT get served...

2)yes, because we still cling on to some obsolete ideals set forth by our tight-ass puritan ancestors

3)yes, because we aren't really given much chance to simply enjoy a drink every once in a while

Oh, and I mean what age do you start drinking regularly, I first tried it when I was about 13, but wasn't regular till 16...

Yeah, but it's the same for a lot of people, that's why I was asking everyone, so I can get a rough idea of what most people do in terms of drinking.

well, america and england are an interesting case, because this country started as a mini-england (aka, a 'colony') and evolved from that culture into what it is now, while england stayed relatively the same.

parents over here flip out when kids drink, its one of the worst things you can do... most people first try around 14/15 depending on how socially active they are

2)I can have a few drinks with my parents and they don't mind...they buy me beer, its no big deal...I can get served with my fake ID, but not without it.
3)When I want to drink a few beers I can, when I want to get hammered quickly I can

Drinking is drinking pretty much anywhere in the world...if you're a partyer, you're going to drink at the same age anywhere in the world.

freshman year of highschool is when it all really starts......for most kids thats wen pot and alcohol come into play

From Canada (well, Quebec):

1)13-14, at like parties, but getting served, 16/17 if you look old enough I guess. I looked pretty young, so then 18 because it's legal.

2) They offer wine when they drink it, and beer on the weekends, so they don't mind, but I usually say no because it raises akward questions. I'm not sure if they know I'm a drunkard...

3)Parent's consent? I don't drink alcohol for the taste, it's just to get drunk and have fun, I would never dream having to ask my parents if I could get drunk...

we sometimes chill sometimes get hammered, depends if we have a house. were pretty damn responsibly so i dont see why are parents care THAT much. there so ufckin paronoid.

3. Depends on the situation. ill just chill and have a few beers, but at parties and such ill get hammered. its not too hard to get.
