i've heard like 2 guests on NPR talk ish about it. one lady said it was physically addictive. she also said they put in chemicals that make you want to scarf it down faster, i've never really sat down and savored the fuck out of fast food, i just shred through that shit before it gets cold. another guy says the marketing geniuses who work for the giant corporations know how our minds work better than us.

i've though about boycotting mcdonalds (like taking a teaspoon of water out of the ocean) in particular a few times... but some times its too god damn convenient too pass up. other times its just too tempting, like after skiing, for the ride home, gotta get some damn fries and a filet of fish with some coke. DAMN!

there is a fast food that does it right.. BURGERVILLE. its a little more.. but you get what you buy and the milkshakes.. OMG.

It's horrible and I can go on forever about how bad it is for you. But not everyone has the money to cook or knows how too, so I can't blame everyone for eating it. But I think it has a big hand in obesity.

10 bucks for a fast food meal.

10 bucks to buy a loaf of bread, sandwich meats, mustard/mayo, some cheese, and juice concentrate.

the latter can feed you for a couple of days and doesn't have the health risks. YOU CRAZY!

you are buying expensive fast food and cheap grocery store food. $2 and change for a mcdouble and a hot fudge sunday at mcdonalds. A loaf of bread is $2-4 depending on the bread you buy, lunchmeat is $5-8 a pound and cheese is close to the same, I'm not sure how much condiments are because they're gross and juice concentrate is at least a dollar.

food is expensive and that's just for lunchmeat which is borderline gross and is processed and full of preservatives

I eat only one mcGriddles meal per month (estimated average) and that's all the fast food I eat, but I do eat greasy mountain cafeteria food around five times a week. sometimes all I'll have for lunch is a plate of fries and a hot chocolate. sometimes I only munch on a few fries from someone else's plate. but fries are kind of sickening to me now.. haha

every school iv been too offers salads, and maybe even a few healthy sandwiches. Thats all i touch from schools, their fry's are straws of grease.

it's not at school, I work at the skiing mountain.
trust me I would love to have a salad every day, but the salads are like $6 or $7, the fruit cups are freakin $8 (!!!!!) (or anyhow, a price that is way too high for the amount you get.) whereas the cinnamon buns, fries, pizza etc. are only a couple bucks. and I am vegetarian so I have three options for lunch... fries and chocolate bar, cinnamon bun/muffin, or cheese pizza. all sandwiches offered at the caf have meat in them.
if I have dinner leftovers I gladly take those instead!
such is the price I pay for a free season pass!

no no, I was saying that fast food is terrible and processed but people buy it because it's cheap.

The part of my post that you quoted was me pointing out how expensive it is to buy healthy food because even processed food from the grocery store is expensive.

okay. the truth is people are so lazy. how hard is it to buy a box of spaghetti and boil it? pretty cheap too.  there are plenty of inexpensive foods in the grocery store, it just takes more effort than pulling up to a window and ordering a burger and fries.

fast food is very cheap per calorie, compared to a healthy diet full of lean meats, fruits and veggies. thats why poor people get fat. before the fast food revolution "fat poor people" was a rediculous thought...now its the norm.

the food is engineered to trigger good feelings by its smell, look, and taste. however i dont think it tastes that good(cept fries, theyre awsome), and i feel really crappy after. that said i eat it like 2-3 times per year, and i have an incredibly healthy diet.
