What car should i get?

So pretty much my car now is a piece of crap and i can get about $7000-$9000 for a new car but i am not to sure on what to get

i need it to be 4 wheel drive, good gas, and reliable, so far iv been thinking a subaru outback but i wanted to see what you all thought
im open to anything

Fuck cars. Get a truck. 2 door short box tacoma and lift the fuck out of it. Hahahaha, but seriously get a truck. Just not an s10, those are for mexicans. And rangers are for old men. Tacomas ftw. Oh and make sure its a stick. Only girls drive automatics.

mines sitting back in storage in the states. mines a 1995, but you could probably get like an 05 thats used. or look at subaru wrx.

get an early 2000s outback for 4-6k and save the rest for gas/repairs/skiing.

Tacoma would be pretty sick but definitely harder on gas than an outback. I would personally go with the outback. 2 of my friends drive outbacks and a couple others drive imprezas and they swear by their subies.

You really cant go wrong with a subie. they go anywhere, good on gas, great in snow, will always get you to the mountain. Out back is roomier, but the impreza is a little more sporty. It still has room to get the gear in though.

subaru outback is not 4 wheel drive, its all wheel. if you really want a reliable car get a jeep cherokee with the inline 6. Completely bomb proof vehicle and will not let you down in cold weather. Gas will be a bitch though on it. I drive an xterra and love the thing but i dont know the quality of one you will get in that price range but its worth a look. Some of the older tacomas are great trucks too.

The only reason I got an xterra instead of a cherokee is because i couldnt find a jeep with low miles in good condition. They also get pretty shitty gas from what i hear. Definitely check it out.

a "brand new" used Mazda 2

41mpg. warranty. and you will need that 41mpg as gas gets closer to $37 a gallon

They are like 15k new, but I imagine they depreciate a bit when you drive them off the lot.

I don't get the hype on the xterra. I could have gotten one for cheaper than my truck (same year and 50,000km less)

It's not great on gas, not good looking, and the interior is built poorly (on par with a mid 2000's GM car at best.)

The roof racks are not very good either.

I would much rather buy a 90's path finder or 4runner and spend extra money lifting, locking and getting good tires for it.

you're an idiot. you're from freaking marquette, michigan, have you ever sat in LA traffic? try washington DC traffic

i spent the first half of my life living 20 minutes north of los angeles, and now i've lived in the dmv for almost 9 years. the two cites with the worst traffic in the US.

While a manual transmission has it's obvious draws, try driving it in stop in go on the beltway for hour or two. it isn't always better, and while it's a good skill to have, eliciting some sort of social status from it is ridiculous.

Pretty much any Subaru impreza type car is beat on unless the owner is above 30. Personally I wouldn't buy and impreza with over 80000 Kms which is about 50000 miles give or take?

what are you hauling? fully loaded my 1/2 ton gets better highway mileage than an xterra. Sure it's worse on gas if you're just going up with your ski gear and a friend, but not much worse.

In the city you will get much better mileage, but if we are talking about mileage we shouldn't be talking about either kinds of vehicles. Other than that, I think everything that an xterra can do, a 1/2 ton or a full size SUV can do better.

not saying it is a bad car though, they obviously have a following and it must be for a reason. I just don't get why.

No I am a Jetta guy, but I know people with rex's and Sti's and they had to do a lot of looking and test driving and what not before they found one that hadn't been bagged. What does me owning one have to do with that? Obviously if it has some form of performance parts it's going to be bagged. I would really only buy a stock wrx or sti unless I knew the person that had it before knew how to take care of it and it didn't have that many kilometers. That's all I was saying.

To me, this sounds like a young guy that would have def beat on the car. Make sure you run the carfax and get the full maintenance history 1st. Its your money ultimately in the end. Just giving my .02 cents.

This guy knows what he's talking about, why anyone would ever buy one of those over a 4runner is beyond me.

I personally drive an 04 Landcruiser with a 2.5" OME lift and 33" tires (haven't noticed any loss in power).
That shit makes the worst road conditions like childs play. Me and 6 of my homies can roll out in comfort, in any conditions practically, while getting a decent 15.5 - 17.5 mpg on the highway, depending on how much of a leadfoot I'm deciding to be, and how flat the terrain is. Toyota quality is unreal. My sister drives my families old 94' cruiser that has 230,000 miles on it and it's still such a nice car, I would drive it any day. my .02

Get an audi S4 - audis quattro all wheel drive is insane in the snow, and its twin turbo, fast as fuck and super fun to drive!

or go with a landcruiser and make it dope!

My family has a 96 Jeep Cherokee Loredo, this thing is tank with All Season tires. Im 15 and I drive this thing to its limits out in the Okanogan 4x4'ing. It hauls ass on the highway. When we fill up across the boarder in the States its around $60 for a fill up. When we drive up to my grandpas (325km from my house to his) it takes up around 1/4 - 1/2 a tank or so, remember thats 325km... Jeeps are bulletproof. Nuff said......

Gmc Yukon or Chevy Tahoe with ford torsion keys, 33 inch tires, and 2 inch coil spacers. Get the lifted look for around $125, and keep the stock ride and handling vs. $1700 for a lift with crappy handling. These SUVs are the perfect ski trucks
