What brand keeps you dry the best?

What brand jacket and pants keep u dry, i was looking into first drop after reading they get wet eaisly and i was wondering what keeps you dry and is durable? I heard saga and LD is good quality stuff

none of the shitty NS trendy brands. if you want real waterproofing, be prepared to drop 500+ on a jacket from a REAL outerwear brand

Saga was good at first, then the waterproofing wore away, and its just mediocre now. If you're looking for some good tech stuff i've heeard good things about mammut. Arc'teryx and trew are also very nice.

my armada galactic jacket and plasma pants do the trick. eVent fabric is amazing but is not the most durable i must say.
I think for my next set of gear, thinking about TREW.

Everything sucks compared to my Armada Tracer jacket. Its actually 20/20k and not saga's version of 20/20k, and the Tracer is a 3 layer 20/20k shell. Whenever people see it they are like holy fuck that shit is sooo cash. It durable as fuck, never had a jacket this durable. Its better then my $500 Norrona jacket which is also 3 layer 20/20k.

for suuuuuper chaep mad water proof breathables check out mec. its definately the way to go.

a third the price of my saga and ten times more waterproof.

Anything that is Gore-tex ProShell (or SoftShell) basically. Cobra already named most (if not all) of the best. Personally I use Peak Performance, it's expensive as all hell but worth it. I would also add Trew to the list. Although the material isn't Gore-tex, their stuff is super tech and I've never heard anyone say anything bad about it, whether it was the made in Oregon stuff or the newer made in China stuff.

Also, stay the away from Gore-tex Performance Shell. In my mind it is only a slightly cheaper impostor. If you want to save a little money buy the good 3L Gore-tex stuff from one of the lesser known brands (Outdoor Research or Mammut or something) NOT Arc'Teryx or Burton AK Performance Shell, or buy Salomon's ClimaPro, it's not too bad.

Can someone help me understand why Trew or Oakley outerwear is so much better than Saga? I don't get it, they're all 20k/20k (with some exceptions for the more expensive oakley jackets), taped seems, ykk waterproof zippers... etc. Is it actually better? Or just more expensive

I'm currently using a Marmot Goretex Pro Shell jacket with Trew bibs; probably my favorite combination so far.

And no, you don't need to drop half a grand to pick up a truly waterproof coat. Check the sale racks as the spring wears on. Department of Goods is a nice source. Luckily for NS, the XL sizes of more technical coats usually don't sell as well, so the ones we want to buy are still around.

with ANY company you gotta look into what you buy. if you buy bottom of the line helly hansen it wont be waterproof... you gotta buy the top of the line 20 000 mm jackets.

ive had multiple orage suits, and some years i went for what i thought looked best but knew it was shittier quality and as expected it leaked 3/4 of the way through the season. on the other hand i still wear the FIRST orage jacket i ever bought (which would be then end of its 6th season this year) as a rain jacket and i've never gotten even damp.

so look into what material ( gortex or equivalent) the company is using and check if its just a trendy good looking jacket at shit quality or a good solid mawwfucking jacket with usually about 15 - 20000 mm waterproofing..
