because ski manufacturers are the demon spawn of satan, seeking to crush any semblance of organization, so that we will all live in completer, hellish anarchy.
because lets say you want center mounts and somebody else wants a +3 mount. you have a size 12 boot and they ahve a size 9 boot. you wouldnt be able to mount both of those boots if the holes were pre drilled. they could be too close together and the bindings would rip out of the skis..besides it would look retarted to just see a bunch of holes in your skis
the problem I see, even if bindings all had the same hole pattern, is that some people will mount a ski at 0, while another person will mount that same ski at -6. meaning there will have to be like 8 extra holes in the ski. while on a board that wouldn't matter so much, I would imagine on a ski that would make a huge difference in it's ability to not snap.
I dont see that happening at all. Maybe if a binding is developed that is instantly superior and takes over the market, but man, you are asking Rossi, Marker, etc to all come together and spend money on something that aids the competition.
I know this will be perceived as blasphemy, but perhaps someone may actually not want to have their bindings center mounted, or is the idea to have multiple holes pre-drilled for various bindings at different placements on the ski? They could call it the Swiss Cheese.
because snowboarding was made by one company that set up all the standards, skiing has been around for thousands of years and to set up a standard would be ridiculous.
otherwise, it will probably never happen. Mounting locations vary by boot size and desired location, so unless you want a lot of extra metal and clunky shit to make bindings adjustable (e.g. reactor, or most demo bindings), just deal with it.
Yea, probably the best idea anyone has ever had for bindings but the worst quality. So convenient to have 1 pair of bindings for multiple skis. I'm waiting for someone to do it again. They will bank off of it.
I think it also is due to the fact that different skiers like to have their own set up for the placement of the bindings, if it's for park, pipe or free riding.
yeah it was a great idea but they shit the bed so hard with those things. heavy as shit yet still super breakable.. saw multiple pairs of those things blow up on ~20 foot jumps that year, what a joke.. shoulda put a little more R&D into those before releasing them, sort of blew a good chance at a great idea
