I'm finishing my second year of college for fabrication and welding, the job search is looking pretty bleak for me. My question is any one in the trades have any tips for looking to land job? Things you have done?

I really want to become an apprentice to an old, wise, italian shoemaker named Ambrogio who speaks broken english and may or may not have a brother who is part of the italian mafia and the mafia tries to get him to monopolize the shoemaking business in brooklyn but my master has dignity and a passionate love for fine leather and stitching and refuses their request to which they kill him and there is a very sad funeral and by then i learned the trade and it ends with me reopening the business in a happy montage in which i changed the name of the shop in honor of my mentor: "Ambrogio's"

Just go visit some fab shops, thats really all you can do. Try construction too, some of them have specific welders.

Yeah, I'm going to a town over next week to go to some shops and apply since thats the town my girl friend wants to go to school. Kind of limits my opportunities. All I want to do is weld shit for the rest of my life, it should not be this hard.

DONT DO DRUGS. Many jobs ask for a piss test when you hand in your application. I good friend that is very good at wielding missed a few opportunities over a couple blunts.
