When you take a test and its five times harder than the study guide and practice test. Logic would have it the other way around. I guess logic doesn't in exist in the bullshit world of mathematics though. God dam I fucking hate test. Im fine with learning and digesting the material but when instructors form the most retarded test around it, well then it pisses me off. Sorry about the rant but I really hate walking out of a test feeling like I did shitty on it, especially when your on academic probation and you studied your ass off for it the night before.

how about standardized testing is the stupidest shit in the world. You should actually try learning the material for once instead of waiting until the last minute and hoping a study guide will save you.

Oh I learned it for sure. Except the math on the home work, practice exams, notes, and study guide was really simple math so I went into the exam thinking that it'd be simple. But nope, they shafted with the long hard dick of the bullshit that surrounds academics.

Nope, at Im CSU taking Math 130 which is math in social sciences, basically retard math. However I know nothing about math except considering that my major (history) has nothing to do with math and the fact that I haven't taken it in nearly two years. All I know is standard algebra.

We don't have a text book. All of our assignments are online and are required to be done on a certain date. And after that certain date it is impossible to go back and look at the work that you've done.

Well yeah for the most part. Its an 8am so theres the occasional sleep through. I was also sick for an entire week two weeks ago with strep throat so I mean I missed some but I got all the notes for what I missed. Im just feed up but I'll get over it cause my spring break starts TOMORROW!!!!!!

My Chem teacher said "I do not believe that tests are supposed to be like the problems we have worked on" followed by, "there are two problems on the test that I have never told you how to answer and we are never going to go over examples for" aagian followed by "if you are doing good in this class then I am not doing my job." I'm not even a chem major so why must she waste my time with this nonsense.

haha you just didnt studyy. straight up. you studied hard the night before? good for you, if you actually wanted an A out of a class that is hard for you start studying a week in advance, and go in to office hours to ask all your questions. If you dont go into the test confident that you will get a 100% then dont bitch when you get a shitty grade.


you didnt prepare yourself, and the results showed it. AND HOW THE FUCK TO YOU GET PUT ON ACADEMIC PROBATION WITH A MAJOR LIKE HISTORY? that is the easiest, least time consuming shit ever!

Man you don't know me and the situation Im in. Im a freshman and didn't take my first semester seriously, thousands of freshman are in the same boat im in. Sorry Im not as studious as you are, I really wish I were but Im not. And your completely wrong about how time consuming history is. Try reading seven novels in one semester for one class. I don't care who you are, seven novels is fucking time consuming.

get the fuck out. spent 30 mins a night at 20 pages a night and you end up with 140 a week. 18 weeks in the semester right? plenty of time. stop making excuses, you dont know what hard work is yet.

oh and also, you need to learn how to scan well if you are having trouble reading all those pages. and if reading isnt your thing, then you picked the wrong major.

Point is, dont bitch if you havnt put in the work. And you obviously havnt.

seems like it. i can't believe some of the majors that are in my chem class have to take chem. I am a bio major so i need it, lots of bio things make more ense if you know chemistry and vice versa.

arguably, I don't need calculus, it serves no purpose in the fields i'm looking into and if it does I'll make a computer do it. and before people rant about that i should be able to do it, 1. I could and 2. it would be dumb to. go look at some quantum mechanics equations and tell me you want to deal with them.

you need to know calc, so you know how to manipulate them to derive custom equations to fit your specific need. thats the only reason. if you are doing stuff that has been done before, then all you need is matlab, but if you are actually trying to model phenomena then you need to understand the math behind the equations.

Don't worry about the past. Now you know what it takes to succeed so go do it. Channel your inner nerd and put in the hours of study it takes to be successful in school. I'm sure you've heard that for every hour of class you should study two or three; it's true. It's also possible to do that and maintain a normal social life. Try making study schedules and sticking to them. Excluding tragedies or serious medical conditions (coughing up blood is the minimum), do not skip class. And when you're there, sit in the front row. Good luck.

this is true, but genetics, too my knowledge, involves minimal amounts of deriving. I would hate to sit around all day and work calc equations.
