I'm thinking of heading over to maui for the winter (i live in NZ) to do some kiteboarding, as im 18 i want to be doing it on the cheap. Was just wondering if anyone on this site has gone there before and tried to live for about 4months cheaply and if the have any tips, i live in Chch NZ and after the earthqauke we had this place doesn't have alot to offer anymore. Main questions would be where are the good freestyle spots and names of backpackers close to them, i know this is a ski site so i may be asking the wrong people, just thought it was worth a try.
I hear the trick to saving money in American places is to buy food in bulk, apparently ill have trouble/cant get car insurance as im under 20 that true?
Haha you know your isht. I went to Matsumoto and actually only had to wait like 5 minutes. You gotta get the ice cream scoop at the bottom too, clearly.
maui is the best! you'll fall in love and never want to leave....i go every winter no matter what. i dont know much about kiteboarding but honolua is amazing for surfing and hookipa is for all the gnarly windsurfers and such. ive seen a bunch of kiteboarding places in kahului, which is the big town but im pretty sure anywhere on the island you're good to go. have fun! im jealous
