Don't pump gas on March 14 2011. .In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in
Protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.50 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet
Network and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 14th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil company’s
Pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on March
14th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for
at least one day.

If you agree (which I can’t see why you wouldn’t) resend this to all your
contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on March 14"

how about on march 14th we try to drive less? take the bus instead of drive. walk to your freinds house. make it a use less gas day not buy less gas day. 1 day where everyone rides there bike to work.

i don't really care how much gas is. i can easily make my tank stretch further by doing errands only when necessary, driving more efficiently, and saving money on other stuff to make up for the increasing gas prices. it really sucks for commuters though.

and on topic: good luck with this. i doubt it will do anything, but it would be nice it if did

Here's a far better idea:

Stop buying gas from Exxon/Mobile entirely. They are the worlds largest oil company and do the most business with the Middle East. By not purchasing there gas, they will be forced to drop prices to make up the figures. This in turn will cause other companies to do the same to remain competitive thus resulting in a drop in gas prices everywhere. Its really easy to do, just buy gas from Sunoco or BP or whoever else is around you, just not Exxon or Mobile.

Using that logic we should all fill up our cars 20 times! That way the gas will go down to like 10 cents. YOU ALL WITH THOSE SUVs GET READY FOR BUSINESS! Better have your money ready.

you do realize that 3.50 a gallon is the equivalent to less than a dollar a litre which means that even alberta the cheapest place to buy gas in canada pays more for gas than all of the US. Seriously US gas prices aren't even high when you compare them to other developed country's.

Thanks for stoppin by. If they actually gave a damn/ weren't completely ignorant, we might try to stop printing money and invest more in alternatives. Especially getting cars with better mileage. Really isn't that hard but there's no incentive. So much lobbying going on to keep shit tons and shit tons of money flowing to big oil companies, car manufactures, pharmy companies, everything.

It's all one big messy pile of shit.

this is actually really stupid. this will do practically nothing to the oil industry. its basic economics. whoever does this "protest" is just silly. I hope a lot of people end up running out of gas on the freeway then have to be rescued which in turn uses more gas.

also just gonna point out that this was never actually done in 1997. They tried in 1999, and the price of gas actually went up in most areas overnight.

yeah evan is correct.

the spike in prices is because of the issues in libya, so if you want to help out - go solve their problems overnight.

get saudi arabia to release the extra supply they have, get alaska to allow drilling, and when that's all done - figure out a way to stop using fossil fuels to run cars.
