Anyone who thinks this was a clean hit is fucking retarded. IT WAS INTERFERENCE. The elbow can be argued, but it is textbook interference.

IF CHARA HAD NOT INTERFERED, PACIORETTY WOULD NOT BE INJURED. He has a fractured vertabrae out of this. The punishment should fit the crime, Chara has possibly ended someones career, Chara's season should be over at least. Fuck the NHL.

why are intent to injure penalties in place then? i dont think you understand how hockey rules work. that was not a clean hit, and someone got injured out of it, thats why its not ok.

why do you think most hits that result in injuries are dirty? because clean hits 9/10 dont hurt people.

Proof my ass. These photos coming out are extremely deceptive...

The footage of the event paints a better picture. It's interference for sure... but I highly doubt injury was intended.

i also doubt he actually went in to it thinking "oh ya im gonna hurt him" but i think he went in a little bit harder than he should have, considering the position on the ice, their surroundings, their speed, etc. a good hockey player should always subconsciously analyze these factors and make the right play. It is possible to be really competitive and still be sportsmanlike, making sure you dont seriously injure anyone is part of the game and a big factor in the establishment of rules/penalties such as interference.

because something like that can't go down without resulting in a major penalty

the reason this shit doesn't happen more often is because those posts exist on less than 1% of the boards so the chances of being hit into one are very very low

i agree the photos are deceptive. it was interference but chara didn't intentionally make contact with his head and shove it into the pole. after watching the video a bunch of times from all angles that really did not happen

this is the way it should be, but people just don't pay enough attention. chara is a goon. he didn't wanna get beat. i don't think he assessed the situation, i think he just did what he usually does and used his 6'9 body to get himself in front

Showing that video over and over again on the news is about as classy as showing the video of the luger who was killed in the Olympics. Sure he didn't die, but it is a brutal, sickening hit to watch.

i dont agree 100% with this guy, but i agree with him on the part that most players would agree that he knew the partition was there. even if he wasnt out to hurt him, just the fact that he knew the partition was there shouldve been enough to avoid this whole situation.

My buddy back in high school checked a kid like that. It wasn't dirty by any means, the kid had the puck just at the wrong place at the wrong time where the glass met at the end of the bench. Broke his arm in 3 places.

hockey doesnt have halfs and if youre a candian you should fucking know that. Chara is just a massive 6'9" guy finishing his check. if you know anything about hockey you would know that he was not trying to do that on purpose. mullet melrose doesnt think it was dirty because its not, its hockey, and thats not the first time someone has hit the turnbuckle like that

chara was given a 5 minute major for interference. i was talking to all the people claiming that hurting each other was part of the sport by saying that the penalty for intent to injure exists in the rulebook for a reason.

I don't know what no one has pointed out that Chara wasn't even looking at the guy. He was looking down the ice at the puck, and stuck out his arm and pushed the guy next to him. He didn't look back at him after he hit the turnbuckle, because he didn't even realize that it had happened.

read the report Chara was cleared of all wrong doing it was a legal hit and unintentional, he will not be suspended or fined, whether or not the guy he hit had the puck nor not doesnt matter it was a legal hit playing hockey is not supposed to be a safe sport, that area of the rink is dangerous especially because of the 90 degree part between the bench and the boards. it was all just unlucky. btw it was at the end of the 2 period no such thing as halfs in hockey

Tanner Glass is awesome, i ran into him at whole foods randomly once and hes a really classy nice guy. i would have to agree with him.

also pacioretty says his goal is to play in the nhl again, they aren't sure if he will again though

i think the man with experience in the league knows what he's talking about. anyone who is stupid enough to think chara didn't do that on purpose is an idiot. he knew what he was doing ,and it was a completely unnecessary move, and you can see even the boston coach looks fucking embaressed. anyone who wants to argue that he didn't know where he shoving him is fucking stupid. that's a bully bullshit move and it's disgusting. he knew exactly why and when he pushed him. he was just being an asshole looking for a fight or to start shit and he clearly caught more than he bargained for.

Im sorry but you can't tell me that Chara, a professional hockey player of 15 years, didn't know exactly where he was on the ice. Whether he meant to send him into the turnbuckle or not I don't know. But he knew where he was at and he knew something was going to happen.

yeah charas notorious for being an asshole...been suspended one time in his entire career which was an automatic suspension for instigating. and that " hit on someone half his size" is the dumbest thing ive ever heard. this is PROFESSIONAL hockey, the same sport that lets players bare knuckle box each other. its not fucking peewees
