Short history lesson,
For thousands of years man kind has waged wars against one another. These wars happend for very few reasons, territory, resources, and/or idealology. Ultimately wars happend because one side wants something and the only way to get it is literally over the other sides dead bodies. These wars were brutally fought, with few survivors who would be put into slavery for the rest of their lives. Captured soldiers were highly likely to be killed. Whole towns of civlians and sometimes even entire civilizations would be butchered. Defeated territrories would be pillaged then burned to the ground.
In the last 40 or so years many wars have become much more civilized. Targets are strategically bombed resulting in few causulties and colateral damage. Wars have never been safer with privlaged countries having huge arms suppiorites resulting in greatly reduced causulties on both sides. Defeated territories now have schools, hospitals and infastructure rebuilt.
Thoughts on the matter,
Because of mordern warfare being much more civilized then in the past few thousand years it is my opinion that soldiers like the one in the video sign up unaware that they are still signing up for war. After seeing many soldiers act out like this, I have to ask why do these particular soldiers sign up? Do they not realize it's war and you can die, be disfigured, see gresume acts preformed to other human beings or have to kill?
Maybe some of these soldiers sign up to travel and get a sweet pension at 40, nieve to the fact that they may very well be called to fight in an actual war complete with all of the attrosities that makes war, war. I feel no sympothy for these particular soldiers they should have been aware of what they were getting them selves into when they joined the army wether a particular war is just or not.
