You dont seem to understand that Afghanistan will bleed us white, its exactly like what Ho Chi Minh said in Vietnam to the Americans " You can kill ten of my men for every one I kill of yours, but even at those odds, you will lose and I will win".
They dont care if they lose ten of their people for every one GI they knock off, it is their country and will fight to the death for it where we will not. For example, if someone like China or the Soviet Union invaded the US, wouldn't you fight to the death to protect your country and not give up until the invaders are gone? Same concept applies to Afghanistan.
As for further terrorist attacks from Afghanistan, you do realize that only 2 of the 9/11 bombers were from Afghanistan, the rest were from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Your argument is invalid. In fact, they have since increased in that country on our soldiers now. How can you fight an enemy will to kill himself?
Bin Laden, its no secret that the skinny six five bearded man is living quite happily in Pakistan in some cave. Afghanistan was a noble cause at the start but victory was not the least bit attainable, We aren't really fairing much better than the Soviets with more advanced weapons and better tactics.
In the end, we will lose. The faster you come to accept the inevitable the quicker you can wake up to reality and realize what a silly waste of resources it is. We need to regroup and concentrate on Pakistan will small special forces groups hitting valuable targets and locations rather then full scale war.
