I'm doing a webisode series this season (check it out here: http://http://vimeo.com/channels/shredtelevision) with some friends which'll hopefully culminate in a short film. Doing it on a pretty tight budget, no profit involved. Still I figure I can't use original music without breaking a law or two. But what about remixes? Seeing as it's not the work of the original artist nor the complete work of the "remixer". Seems to me like it'd be a legal grey area. Does anyone know for sure?
Not really worried about getting sued, but some of the sponsors are pretty adamant about us not breaking any copyright laws. And I know we did all ready by using røyksopp forever and Roy Orbison, I'm kinda hoping they won't catch that and then do better for the next episode.
Thanks in advance for any lawyeresque input on the subject!
