What's your View On Religion?

A little background: I grew up going to church every now and then, so I was religious a little bit. More recently (7 years or so) I started questioning "god", and am now Agnostic.



My opinion on religion, is that religion in for the weak minded, who need someone to "Lead" them through life, and to blame the mistakes (Sins) on.





What's your view on Religion, NS?

Meh, without religion you don't get some fucking sick buildings, so I'm game.

Too many kids these days get all pious and shit about objecting religion, even though it is basically human nature and there is a lot of good that comes about from a good chunk of it. Coming from somebody that doesn't believe in anything except AoE.

So you are an atheist then, not agnostic, agnostic means you are undecided, an atheist is someone who believes there isn't a god.

Wrong. I bet that most "atheists" you encounter are "Agnostic Atheists". Agnostic atheism is a serious position while pure atheism (in the theoretical sense) just as absurd as theism.

(4) I imagine religion ties in very closely to science (people take the creation story way too literally) 7 days could symbolize trillions of years

I don't believe in worship, in fact im against it. I like to believe that there is a higher being that cares about me but I am 100 percent for science to an extent.

The best analogy for my beliefs is God lit a fuse and from there on it was monitored chain reactions.

everyone can believe whatever they want, i'm agnostic, some people are christian, jew, athiest whatever.

if it helps people to go through tough times --> great
if it forces people to go to war --> not so great

if it downplays scientific evidence and limits minds --> the worst



of course its great that you help each other when youre christian, but why do you need that stuff to be kind to others?

and creationists are the worst discussion partners ever. like ever, for eternality and 3 days.

Right now at Mars Hill, we're going through the "who's religions, who's rebellious" and Mark Driscoll, who is my pastor for those who know him (which should be any of you who are saying "religion is fake", etc. or any of you who are "religious"), is preaching how to not be either one of those [religious or rebellious]. Because both of those are not good things to be.
What I'm trying to say is stop being religious and the others who are being rebellious, let them be. You think these threads are bad now, I guess the summertime is way worse one Religious Vs. Non-Religious.

I can understand this but do you really think God would want you, as a christian, to sit back and let people bash his followers as "idiots"? I do dissagree with people being religious for the sake of being religious, however I do feel that one should stand up and make a point for ones "religion"

This may be controversy but the new testament is fake. When they wrote it they tried to copy the old testament but nobody knew the language. So therefore they faked it and came up with thier own believfes. I believe in god but kinda the bible. Hate me or not

It's funny because we just talked about this last night at community group, seriously going deep into thought now, God loves us all. I think people who think religion's ridiculous are the worst of our worries, think about those who have committed crimes like murder, adulterous sins and seriously evil thoughts.
What does God think of those people? He loves them too, and he puts them on this earth in a way to show us how we should keep our faith and I don't really know where I'm going with this but to keep us "in-line" in a way.


"..But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean'. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what makes a man 'unclean'.." Matthew 15:17-20. Don't think of yourself "better than" or a "savior" to these kinds of people because that's sin in itself. Jesus is here to save them, if they want it, if they don't then let them be.

We can still ski and have a good time, no matter what religious background, race, skiing expertise, etc. they are..
