used to be a legit as hell mountain when it was called Pleasant Mountain Ski Resort and then Shawnee (PA) bought it from them, and turned it into the biggest dump ever, although I still have some feelings for it because it's where I learned. There still is hella good backcountry, I occasionally still go there as my sister is the star of their race team. You can descend the backside of Pleasant Mountain and ski bums claim its more epic than Sugarloaf's backside. That's what I've been told on the lift.

If you go out to the left of the top and ski off over the top into the woods, its supposedly epic. I wanna ski it when we get enough snow (next year)

My dad's first time skiing was there too. Back in like 1960 when they had 2 lifts and a set of ropes.

Emery Park, East Aurora NY

Close to home, 3 trails, a double t-bar, night skiing, nice lodge, and since it was a county park it was all free to the public. I remember being very young cruising around there at night with my father and brother not really enjoying skiing all that much because I was too small to ride the t bar by myself.

Checked it out this past fall and things seemed to be in decent shape, I wonder if they still operate?
