Everything you've said is correct besides kegs being aluminum. It's been a long time since aluminum kegs were used. Kegs today are stainless steel. Also, the light thing you mentioned, is most likely irrelevant since domestic beers have a short shelf life (No more than a few months) and imports usually have about a year-long shelf life. I would only imagine light affecting beers in 6-packs, or sold in 24/32 oz. individual bottles.
Aside from that, you're totally right, cans vs. glass has no effect, many people just enjoy drinking from glass more than a can. Shit, I'll take a cold bottled beer any day over a can from the same cooler.
