Replying to Being 18 in Canada
Well, I think that we truly find out how idiotic our laws are when we are about 18. This is especially true in Ontario, but Quebec has it right.
At 18, it is possible to vote and dictate who represents not only your specific geographical area, but your country as well.
You can drive a car with a full license (a G in our case), and assume all the risks that go with it.
You can, and at the age of 18, most people do enroll in post secondary education, and you begin to narrow down the roads you are taking in the journey of life; you are generally choosing the career path for the rest of your life when you do this.
And finally, you can serve your country in the military, and your life is put on the line as you protect your fellow citizens, and help to accomplish your government's agenda with you at risk.
But at 18, you still can't legally drink, or buy drinks containing alcohol.
Why?
