Replying to Hey I really want to step up my photography.

Okay well at the moment I shoot with a cannon rebel t1i and am very happy with it. I really want to start taking my photography to the next level and am in need of some advice. First of is, what kind of editing software would you recommend? At the moment I'm using picasa which is just a free editor that I downloaded online. If I'm really looking to take this seriously what software should I get? Secondly, I really like the idea of doing DSLR movies or edits what do you recommend for keeping my rebel stable and also what type of film editor software could I get? Thanks for any help you can give.
