Helmet without earpads

I see people wearing a hat or a hoodie underneath their helmet while riding, when itry to pull of that i think i look stupid. How do people pull it off?

take pads put from inside of helmet, wear beany under helmet, wear goggles under helmet. i had to tape over all the open velcro spits when i took out my pads so it didnt fray my goggle strap

i usually wear a thin balaclava instead of a beanie so i can keep the pads in, otherwise this is the way to do it. dont worry you dont look silly

some helmets just cant fit hats under, even without all the padding. the earpads dont do much anyways thouhgt. i just wear a thin hat under it.

you need to buy a skate style helmet almost, like a bern hardhat is perfect that is what i use. protec makes good ones and so does r.e.d. for beanie wearing under the helmet steeze.

Yeah like most people are saying it depends on the style of the helmet. Also people may modify the inside to accomodate what they want to wear in terms of facemask/beanie, or rock the goggles inside the helmet too.

For example I have a bern baker that was getting a little small so i shaved off some of the padding and wore a beanie.

I think people DO look stupid when they do that. Wear a helmet. It's a lot better of an idea. Keeps your head warm and protects your head. STOP BEING DUMB ASSES

I dont get what you are saying. Are you implying wearing a beanie under a helmet comprimises the safety of my helmet. Or that if i dont get a D.O.T snell 2005m approved helmet i am not safe? Or both?

If you're gonna get a helmet, get one certified and reccomended for snowsports. Skate helmets just don't cut it. Brain injuries are serious shit.

Taking the soft pads out is fine because it really doesnt do anything a beanie wont. But i would not recomend shaving or doing anything to the hard padding.

I wear a pro-tec skate helmet because its what i have. It works great. I've hit my head on snow and rails many times and never gotten a concussion or anything like that.

A good idea is to get a mouthgourd. Like the rubber ones you wear for football. Go to your local superstore and they should have some. But mold it to your teeth. They are great for reducing alot of head injury risks.

I just put mine in when i'm doing park. take it out on the lift

giro makes a few helmets and goggles that are specifically made to have a hat and goggles under the helmet. it's really comfortable and the systems get even better for next year.

yeah i have a smith helmet, took out pads/ear pads. make sure you get a helmet that fits a little bigger so you can put a hat underneath, or get a skullcap/balaclava thing

Just to clear it up. I only shaved off the very soft foam thats there for comfort purposes only, i didnt touch the actually hard foam underneath.

Smith holt, purchase 1 size bigger than usual, take out ear pads, and itll be a perfect fit!

i have the giro encore 2, and it is certified for snowsports and biking and skating and that stuff, plus you can take out the earpads if you don't want them. if you do, it looks just like a skateboard helmet.

go to a shop with your goggles and a beanie and try on helmets there to see the fit on your head as well as your goggles.

recommended helmets: smith holt, smith maze, poc receptor bug

don't recommend bern hardhats, they aren't certified helmets.

i am pretty sure smith makes a holt park helmet that comes without padding and earpads already. and i think its a little cheaper too. someone correct me if i am wrong?

you should always buy a snowsports helmet, but buy a skate style helmet, that way it looks good with a beaine under it and is still certified.

dude are you kidding me? its a real helmet as long as its certified. the part of the helmet that actually does sumthing is the stiro foam inside not the padding or earpadds its just that

the padding is to just add comfort

OP, i had problems with that too. at first i was using my giro G10 with the ear pads taken out. fail. didnt work very well. so i bought a giro shiv, which is awesome. its about half the weight of the g10 and its a proper ski helmet, just looks more like a skate helmet.

with the beanie, try to get a bigger one so it sits nice and low. then make sure the front of the helmet comes all the way down to the goggles, because IMO a huge gaper gap makes you look like a tool.
