okay so.

me and 3 buddies went to a bar last night. Everything was cool until my one bud brandon got some guy kicked out for trying to start shit in the bar. Apparently he had 11 other friends waiting outside the bar for him.

I was talking to these guys outside the bar until my friends came out and we were chill.

Then boom, my friend brandon and the other 2 come out and all hell brakes loose. i had 5 dudes beating the shit out of me. i barely had time to get punches in. and before i knew it i was on the ground getting kicked and so was brandon.
other two buds had 2 a piece. but still 12 guys to 4? like who the fuck does that.

Cops came and the 12 guys ran. we talked to the cops and they wouldn't do shit except threaten to charge us.

Fucking Quebec eh

it's because in the maybe mid 70s, or 80s, there became a hugeee dispute between the french and the english, and it's been a pretty big messy thing, to a point where there were riots and fights, violence etc. basically the seperatists, and political groups and french activists wanted quebec to be a french only speaking province. so even to date, all of the laws about where you go to school are based on where your parents went to school, i.e. if my parents when to english school i have either the right to go to french school, or if one of my parents went to french school i can choose. anyways, it's pretty fucked up. even in college you are required by law to attend 2 mandatory french classes if you attend an english college.

but to the point, after all this bullshit about language and who's right and who's wrong, there were a bunch of laws made up about everything including signs, and store and company names, and etc. if you open a shop in quebec, if it's brand new, and has no ties to anywhere else, the name has to include a french word, and all english writing on signs has to be a specific percentage smaller than the french, and the english always goes below the french. it's all pretty ridiculous. so at one point we had signs that read stop/arrete but people started painting over the stop, and then eventually the stop was abolished all together.


i was just looking at a website that showed a few other countries that have their signs in their language, like places in china, but most people use stop, and on occasion their native or commonly spoken languages in the area.

what are you talking about? have you ever been to quebec either? a lot of french quebecers, including police officers, will refuse to speak to you if you speak to them in english, let alone ever answer you in english. if that's not stuck up i don't know what is. stop being such a know it all. someone from quebec is telling you how the quebecers act and you're going to tell him he's wrong? ... um, by the way, nice try.

I was born in Quebec and I've spend as much time in Ontario as I did in Quebec and I am privileged to have experienced both cultures. I've never had experiences of the sort in Quebec, but I am not denying what you're telling me.
I don't understand why you're telling me this; I never said that there isn't any people in Quebec that aren't stuck up. There is stuck up people everywhere in Canada, they aren't all concentrated in Quebec.
I'm from Quebec and I have the right to tell him that he's wrong and I don't understand how you know that he's from Quebec. ...um, by the way, nice try.

Something like this happened to my friends, i was there to watch...

so we are in quebec city at a club and a group of my friends are leaving the club... then 3 guys jump on my friend and rip up his shirt. My friend turns around and knocks a guy straight in the face causing a huge fight. This guy gets his shit kicked by at least 5 french guido type guys. Then on the way out after the fight died down security hits my other friend for no reason. Then my friend *different guy* is just walking by and gets punched in the face....

i later find out someone got stabbed with a bottle opener after we left.



Later that night i also heard about a guy walking with another friend got jumped by like 7 guys... not sure what happened to him

its a war land down there!

anyways dude. honestly, i see what i did now, and i apologize for that, however, i'm still gonna stand my ground. i think you're missing the point that he said most people here are stuck up, and i simply just explained what makes them come off as stuck up. i appreciate the fact that you're trying to stick up for quebec, but like honestly i agree with him. and i told you why. a lot of french people are stuck up, and that's because they're stuck up to english people, because a lot of french people here, and i mentionned including authority, don't always like english people, or even tourists. so. don't bother telling me i'm wrong about that because i've already explained to you why.

I know what a separatist is and I am aware of what they want. I know that there is a pretty prominent language barrier in Quebec and what bill 101 means, to be honest I think it's a must to learn both languages in Canada and especially in Montreal. I have all the rights to open my mouth as I'm also old enough to be socially aware of the issues that occur in Montreal and to my family. Most of my family lives in Montreal and they've had dramatic experiences with the FLQ as my cousin is Pierre Laporte.

i think people need to chill out and accept that the term "french" in Canada generally refers to Quebecois. We do the same and call you guys "les anglais". everyone here seems to understand the practical purpose of that except Jenifa.

To all those saying quebec = france, quality troll. you catched a huge Jenifish.

i speak english.
we have 10% beers in 40 oz. like black bull and all that nasty shit. we also carry a lot of imports that are 10%. i'm pretty sure unibroue makes 10% beers too.

Well first of all, no right turns on red lights ? just in montreal and few place.... i know its stupid, but thats it. Second, our '' own homo holiday '' is the Saint-Jean baptiste, and i guess you never been to Quebec city  to celebrate it, because every one is nice and friendly. Third, for the quebecers who dont speak english ( or speak english pretty bad like i do) its their choice. So shut up man, no every is obligate to speak english to have a good life, even if we are in Canada. And yes we does have 10% beer, gotta love that. Btw, its not because some of you got beaten by some french canadian, that we are all like this. And Hurrisun, have you ever been to Quebec ? i guess not.

have you ever been to france/quebec? their cultures are similar, mexico and spain are SO different, same with england and other english places. where im from when people say french their either refereeing to quebec or france, not belgium etc
