I have an opportunity to go and stay at a friends in salt lake at some point (one shot deal) obviously I want to go asap but I can't till end of the semester, second week of may. Would the snow be worth going after? this would be my first trip out west, don't get opportunities often so its got to be worth it. alternative is to wait till next winter break.

Bird will probably be open around that time. It will be typical summer like conditions. Slushy and very warm.

It is definitely fun. We've had some good powder days in the beginning to middle of May. It gets heavy by the afternoon, but it's still fun.
You'll still have a shit ton of fun. I would just come out and buy the Spring Snowbird pass for $300, assuming the bird will be open into June. If you can get 5 days out of it you'll be stoked. Skiing a ton of slush and drinkin' beers. It's a good time.
